Alton, IL

Too far south.

Dubuque Iowa

Still too far south, but along the right path.

Nashville, TN

Too far east (and south).

Winnipeg?

Too far north.

Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Too far south.

3 of the 4 rail cars say canada on them. So...

Not in Canada.

Quad Cities: Bettendorf & Davenport, IA and Rock Island & Moline, IL

Too far south.

I gotta tell ya, you guys are pegging all around it, and a lot closer than I'd have imagined without any hints.

But y'all are on the correct river though, which means you can see 2 states in the pic. Neither state has been guessed yet. That should narrow it down a bit.

Winona, MN

Correct state, wrong city.

I'm way more interested in hearing more about the shirt you were wearing what you took the picture.

I was actually in a dress shirt and tie. I was there for a wedding that was taking place at a winery. The reflection you're seeing is the curtain. The hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and each room had a different decoration themed around the name of it (they are all named after riverboats that once traveled the Mississippi).

There is also a well known product line that comes from this city and bears its name.

thought it had a Mississippi vibe to it, and it looked familiar.

not that I've ever been there, but it looked like a place Alton Brown visited on his Feasting on Asphalt 2nd season trip up the river

picked Winona, because there's a similar bridge

fact you can see 2 states eliminates everything north of Hastings; St Croix Lake & River are the boundaries to WI from there

Yessir, home of that world's largest boot! You're up Minky!

I wasted a lot of time looking for a brewery (the ADM depot threw me off) in Canada (the railcars) next to a hotel.

Once I had your clues, it came down to ID'ing the bridge.

This one's in the US.

My gawd, you're right! I got the picture from a Ford dealer's website in Palm Bay, FL that says they serve W. Melbourne!!

http://www.palmbayford.com/serving-west-melbourne-florida.html

That's embarraskin'!

You're up, HTB

Tricky tricky. I zoomed in enough to see the letters on the tower in the right, which looked like "AMP" and after a few mins of searching I found multiple references to Melbourne. Which confused me. Anyways, I'll post one in a min.

Frankemuth it is! Been there?

Not been that far north on any of my US visits. Looks nice.

The Missus swore blind it was Gatlinburg and we were trying to find the location of your image on various searches including Gatlinburg, found it under German style towns in US.

It's late here so I'll put an image up tomorrow from the work PC.

Interesting. .. could be an Egyptian flag.

So I'm going to guess Hurghada, Egypt. Because I've been there

Just north of Bum****, Egypt... I'm sure many of you have parked near there

That's the one.

This was the view from my hotel balcony in April, lovely hotel, spent quite a bit of time at the poolside bar, which is on the river.

when I was in Egypt, all they had for beer was Stella.

and it wasn't Stella Artois

hideous, nasty, horrible stuff. BMC is craft beer in comparison

has the selection gotten any better since 1991? couldn't get any worse

Kept thinking about it... Palm trees, a navigatable body of water with desolate background made me think of the Nile, Luxor was a good guess.

Here's one:
