I assume it's the US as only the US could make quite such a mess of the riverside in the heart of a city.

Obviously we have deciduous trees, so not in the south, not too far north either.

Let's try New England?

I lived in New England for 6 years, so it definitely looked familiar.

Alright, staying on cityscapes, I present you all with this:

We have a "HOTEL" so probably a country that primarily uses the Latin alphabet, and cars driving on the right. And big mountains.

On the assumption that we're probably in North America - the Rockies?

Looks like the trees have been inundated, so either it's some kind of tidal thing or we're looking at a reservoir created by daming a river?

Overall vibe feels a bit like the Yakima Gorge but it's not that. So somewhere in the Cascades?

Looks like Quake Lake. East of Lake Hebron on the Madison in Montana
Quake Lake is right!
In 1959 an earthquake (7.5 on the Richter) caused the entire north side of the mountain to come crashing down into the valley, damming up the river and creating that lake. 28 people lost their lives that night.

Ennis is north of Quake Lake. The only river there would be the Madison. That area is my hunting grounds.
Edit: It looked familiar at first, but I couldn't put my finger on it. But that looks like it's the shelf along the the Madison near the rest stop, just north of Cliff and Wade lakes
