2011 Golden Blend. Quite pleasantly carbed (ha ha, suckers). Nose is sour apple/peach along with a grassy component. Taste is green apples, hint of cedar shavings, aged (Swiss?) cheese. ******* lovely.

Anyone have good experiences with this? I was hoping for the best even with all the bad things I had heard about the synthetic cork....but it was a fruity synthetic kind of mess...

Sounds like you got an infected bottle...

From here, looks like a natural cork, no?

Have had turrble synthetic cork Doesjels, but a couple very nice 07 OGVs. Sorry you had a bad bottle.

Sounds about like the one I opened 2-3 months ago. Oxidized more than most gueuze at that age as well. I had the bottle since shortly after release so I'm pretty sure it wasn't storage conditions.

Valentine edition...2007 .
Why do you think that? I've only ever seen that in actual OGV labels, like here: http://www.lambic.info/3_Fonteinen_Oude_Geuze_Vintage. That bottle pretty clearly doesn't have the purple bar on it. Seems like a regular 3F Oude Geuze, but perhaps there are some that are regular labels out there that have escaped SeaWatchman's omniscience.

Anyway, last time I had St Valentine's I thought it was good, but that was nearly a year and a half ago at this point.

I think there’s a few out there here and there. That bottling also has some non synthetic corks as well as some of the Nightlights labels. But if it’s not labeled as OGV I’d probably put it in the regular log as there are some dates that overlap labelinfs (10 March 2008, for example).

Excuse the crap picture. Trying a new Etre pickup.

Boon minerality. Lindemans lemony brightness. Lots of barrel character and vinous notes/mouthfeel. Solid for sure -- time will likely benefit it too. The other recent Oud Beersel specialties clearly haven't been home runs, but I quite enjoy Vandervelden 135 and this one.

um. which specialties do you speak of - the non-Lambic stuff?

Vandervelden was a masterpiece, this one is really tasty, Kriekenlambik is probably the best Kriekenlambik I've ever had, Schaarbeekse Kriek was very good (though I still prefer their regular Oude Kriek), and both Chateauneuf-du-Pape Oude Lambiek and Brunello Oude Lambiek were very good.

Thanks stupac2 for the seasons!

These were very nice vintage lambics that showed really well. I wish I could’ve had more time to sit and consider each one a bit more but excited none the less. Zomer and Winter were my favorite seasons. Zenne b2 was terrific; young, refined, bright, delicious.

You're over here getting hella likes and escaping before the stupac2 lambic death farts start. It's almost like you know the deal with our shares...

I know some people have mentioned that this “new kid” on the street is a little plain and under-developed but that didnt prepare me for just how much I disliked the bottle I opened yesterday.

Its very buttery with a distinct footy pilsner grain character. The tartness was restrained to the extent that I thought it was possible that I got a mislabeled bottle and was drinking a bad pilsner, not lambic.

Good times and fun to compare the seasons to the other time I had them three years ago. All holding up really well. Nothing too wild, though Winter was my least favorite.

Also, big thanks to whoever brought the Zenne. First time having any vintage of it and it was exceptional. Bummed I kinda rushed through the pour, but the baby was getting fussy.

Interesting. I've had a chance to try this a few times out of 375s and 750s and I've enjoyed each of the bottles I've had. I think one had some slight butteriness to it but the others were nice, light, and refreshing. I think at some point we started calling it summer lambic or session lambic as it was so easy drinking. I'll have to open another bottle soon and will report back.

I’ve noticed a bunch of 375ml Vig 2009’s showing up on instagram lately, though I thought the last time Cantillon made Vig in 375ml’s was the 2005 release. Is this an un-logged batch or something more nefarious?

There was another vig 2009 375ml posted last week by a different person. I tagged SeaWatchman and then accidentally deleted the comment/tag

Nvm I think the one above is the one I tagged SW in. Here’s the photo from today:

Either that's the same bottle or they managed to find two of these maybe-existent bottles with the (what appear to be) identical creases on the label.
