tl;dr for future Akkurat adventurers:
  • lol prices, everything reasonably interesting is $30-$100
  • no more $15 Hanssens, it's $30 now
  • 50N4E is like $150... yeah, opted out of that one
  • Soleil de Minuit... I wish I didn't read about the band aids, because I could definitely smell band aids, and the rest of the beer was kind of single-notedly sour
  • cork from 2002 Cantillon Gueuze can kill a guy
  • 2001 Stille Nacht is better than any lambic in this thread
Was just there ~4 days ago now for a few days on my trip. Prices are definitely heading up (possibly due to Stene's departure), compared to my last visit in April. The best value on the menu these days IMO are the 37.5cl 3F OG vintages ('00-'02). '00 is drinking hella good. And yeah, Soleil is becoming more tart and losing that 'green olive' flavor.

Lol! Had the same experience with the 2002 classic gueuze cork at Akkurat. Very healthy carb on such a wonderfully aged beer. I can still taste it if I think hard enough.

Interesting you smelled bandaids on Soleil. I didnt pick up any bandaid notes. I found it to be very cheesy and jammy. Probably my favorite fruited Cantillon blend of all time.

Taught this might be worth sharing here, So happy with these two! The left bottle is from the very first batch of De Cam in 2000 and the right one is a Mariage Parfait, Boon from the same year.

Are there no other labeled batches of De Cam from pre-2000? Millennium Geuze was bottled in 1998 and labeled as a collab with De Cam. Maybe first bottled Geuze blend since they started up in 1997?

Well the person I got it from told me he bought a whole case of it and none of them had labels. According to him its the very first batch from De Cam, he knows Karel and Willem and works in the brewing industry so I take his word for it. He used to do his own mini TDG on weekends in the late nineties and early 2000's to stock up for a beer tasting group that he was in.

Cellar diving. Will always love this label.

2013 is doing well. Bottled 28 November 2013, close enough to 4 years exactly for me. Cork came out easy, carb has died down greatly. Flavor is vibrant and complex, moderate funk, light lemon, subtle malt sweetness. Tartness is there but this is not in your face sour like many of these American wilds we're seeing.

Quite enjoyable overall. It has improved slightly from fresh Cantillon, but I’ve had some better older vintages, notably 2009 a year or so ago. This should peak in a few years.

Cantillon box tracking is listed as "Retained at customs : reason unknown." Anyone with any experience/insight about what may happen next?

It’ll clear customs and arrive at your house a few days after that. Every box I’ve ever had has said that. I think it’s just the boilerplate status for when it hits customs.

That's not good. Not be a bummer but I've lost 3 boxes like that, zero explanation and never recovered the contents.

You need to contact the customs office to proceed. I've had this happen before and generally they just make you pay the tax they assign based on their assessment of the value of the package. Which customs seized it? I dealt with NC customs and they were very helpful and decent.
