Interesting, I've heard that those have some real variance, but there are some cork issues (a friend lost ~1/3 of this bottle in the trip overseas) so maybe shipping exacerbates that and the ones that stay over don't see it.

I've heard he's okay in person from several people. One of the guys in my tasting group had a smooth IP trade with him and makes fun of me for getting so annoyed by him.

Forgetfu can probably offer a more nuanced explanation than myself as he drank the same bottles, but a 2012 / 2015 Blabaer I was able to sample thanks to the generosity of a few folks from Sweden.
While I'm always grateful to try this beer, it does reaffirm why I don't try and trade for it. I personally enjoy St. Lam among others more than these at a fraction of the cost.

Yup, there's that. And the story of the name, told as fact, when it's a relatively unlikely reason for the name. The incorrect explanation of "oude". The incorrect (or at least significantly overstated) implication as to why sweetened lambics were produced. Mistakenly calling Cuvee Rene an Oude gueuze. But hey, it's a thousand words. Can't get em all right in a piece that long.
The problem is there is no one place to get all your lambic information. You have to piece it together through a lot of obscure articles and hearsay.
