I've had a problem. They were very understanding and made it right.

A package that said delivered, but was not at my home when I got there. I was moving at the time and the package arrived extremely fast. Since it had only been about 4-5 days since the order, I wasn't even checking tracking yet. Long story short, it was the next morning before I went to pick it up from my porch at my old place and it was gone. IT was a very small package, only 3 bottles, but I was given a credit by the store that was more than fair.

In my experience BiaB's customer service is excellent. The time difference can make for some delays in messages getting responded to, but I've always been very happy with their responses/fixes

I'll be honest, I gave it sincere consideration. Sure there was some **** beer, but it was cheaper than any secondary pricing and I don't have the trade ammo or "connections" that many on here do to land stuff like this.

Tell ya what though, I'm basically relieved that it sold out before I could pull the trigger - I would have immediately hated myself after clicking "purchase." My butthole is better for it...and I'm sure I'll have my chances down the line.

TalkBeer should be renamed TalkLambic since you can get instant notifications whenever & where-ever lambic is being sold in this thread, and this thread must be the longest thread by a factor of at least 10. This thread is a detriment to your own cause.

It's a bit sad though to know all the legitimate non-secondary market resources have all gone to **** and there's no real way to get ahold of any sort of great Belgium lambic anymore (aside from the occasional Tilquin) since it all goes to hoarders or resellers. (or unless you're baller and travel to Belgium)... and the rest of us are relegated to the likes of Boon, Timmermans, Lindemans & Hanssens, and if I'm lucky a 3F OG & 1882 Black once a year.... it has turned into the pay-to-play of craft beer.

People complain about the cost, but a single Hommage or Framboos on secondary market costs the equivalent of that entire lambic package shipped from Belgium. And well demand still is ten-fold that of supply.

I can't wait for that increased Cantillon production to be released in 2017-2018.

The Lambic and whiskey threads are what initially brought me over here. I also first learned about mead here. It's a great community full of knowledgeable people with potty mouths. What more could you want?

I know it's going to be an unpopular post but am I wrong?

I guess some of it is that some of the online stores are holding back more, but also with lambic distribution decreasing (or at least Cantillon holding more back) the stores are keeping more for local (Belgium) sales than online sales... mixed with customs cracking down, I guess there are few other factors involved. But case remains it's getting harder to find a legit place to get lambic from anymore.

You can't even buy Tilquin online anymore - though I'm hoping that's just until the expansion from a little while back starts showing - and it's been gone from the shelves around here for ages. I saw some 750s in Detroit recently for $30, nearly twice what I was paying a year or two ago. Bummer indeed but I guess it was bound to happen.

There are still some sites out there that are low key. Hit or miss, but every once in a while they will throw hommage framboos etc up for around retail.

you are vastly overstating the difficulty of getting these beers...

Most lambic is no more difficult to obtain than trading for any sought after US brewery.

there is this continued perception that rarer = better, fruit = best and one-off = must have whale.
if you drink with your taste buds you'll be fine.

Yeah I mean...other than the more limited once per year releases, what is actually that difficult to obtain? Cantillon is about the only brewery whose year rounds aren't available the majority of the time on web shops, and even that you can get quite a lot of if you check the shops with relative frequency. Obviously the situation is getting worse over time, but what are you gonna do about it when demand is growing faster than supply? It's also not the end of the world if we can only get Drie or Cantillon in occasional limited quantities and have to drink merely great lambic like Cuvee Rene the rest of the time.
