Who uses good lambics for trade leverage? That's what stouts are for. Lambics are what you use that leverage to get and drink.
I'm European, for us it's the other way around.

EDIT: Plus, it's not like I'm saying "I need to get rid of these bottles", just that I have traded good Lambic for good Stouts before and it's not unimaginable for me.

Lente: Well rounded, impossible to recognize a flaw in this beer. The aroma was intoxicating, the taste was amazing as well - more on the brighter fruitier side. There's not a thing wrong with it but there wasn't anything so crazy about it to me either. A really really good, funky, ridiculously well rounded gueuze.

Golden Blend '11: Poured with a very tiny amount of carb (I've been getting lucky with bottle variation). Aroma not nearly as intense as the seasons, but the taste was probably more intense. The earthy funk was way more in your face, a bit of brie which I love, easier to point out whats going on for sure. Maybe not as well rounded as the seasons but just as interesting.

Zomer: After much pondering, I think this was my favorite gueuze of the week. It had the intense, hypnotizing aroma of Lente but with a slightly more assertive and interesting taste to match it. Slightly spicier (or something) than Lente. Tough to describe because I thought these three beers were actually all extremely similar, but Zomer just had the most interesting flavors + balance while Lente had excellent balance and GB had excellent flavor.

Overall preferences:
1) Zomer
2) Lente/GB/Herfst/Beat b6
3) LPG/Tilquin Squared/3F OG/Beat b7
4) Cantillon Gueuze/Hannsens
5) Girardin
6) Tilquin
7) Duck Duck Gooze

Some of these were too close to call and while it may have been easier to rank if I had them all in one night, it was fun spreading it out over a week. The main lessons I've learned are to buy and age more Hannsen's (I've had terrible gueuzes from them too so I'm not that much more optimistic). I also learned that gueuzes all have a lot in common but can be WAY more different from each other than I'd realized, and then I do an absolute **** job of describing those differences.

I had a bottle of this last night and totally agree on the brie description. Thought it was really nice with some mushroom and damp earth, but wasn't too overpowering in any direction. Still a touch of citrus as well.

I also drank a 2011 GB last night and regardless of any particular description, I have to say this was about as good a gueuze as I've ever had. I've had '11 GB probably once a year and never been totally blown away by a bottle like I was this time. Really maybe on par with bottles like Blauw for best I've had...

Yea, the 11 I had most recently was pretty amazing. I've had a couple bottles that were flat and a bit oxidized though unfortunately....I suppose this sort of variation can happen with any aged beer though.
 
New spot in Copenhagen. Price on Bilbobagginsbaer ain't bad. Quite part of town.

All those 3F bottles Jeppe bought from Armand to sell retail yet never saw the inside of any retail store? Yeah, that's where they went. Lambic-heads of TB feel free to correct me, but Armand is still pretty ticked off about that, no? Wonder what he thinks now?

edit: Just noticed he's in Denmark... let the conversions and depression begin.

Yeah as soon as I realized that was in Danish Kroner, I was like holy ****... especially considering how expensive Copenhagen is to begin with, those prices are not ******* bad.

1 USD to 6.66 DKK, I think.

It's expensive here and in Sweden. Thankfully price on some bottles here were a bit easier to stomach than stuff on akkurat list, many bottles shared at bar.

When I'm traveling, especially if the conversion isn't close to one, I tend to just prefer to think of it as monopoly money and go to town. It works fine!

I always found getting hung up on conversions is a sure fire way to spend time doing maths when I want to spend time having fun. Spend it all and let future Luke sort it out.
 
How many bottles do you drink of a certain vintage before deciding whether it's generally good or not? And how often do you drink them to see how it changes?

Great question. If possible, I buy a case or two of a batch and age myself. Regarding Lambic specifically, a bottle every 4-6 months, giving me potentially 6 years of cellaring. If a batch tastes phenomenal at year 4, or any given year, my thirst will out way my patience. My patience usually doesn't win either, though I am sitting on a some '09 classic gueuze that is due for consumption.

Sucks that this is the reason lambic brewers have to be so tight with their sales.

If the Brewers put something like 'Not for Individual sale outside the brewery' on the label for the bottles they sell, would they have some sort of recourse under Belgian Law?
 
I was so sure it would be sold out by the time I looked.
#newmoney getting slow. What's 272,04 € between friends, anyway?

I was surprised it was still available right now but then again it is 5:30 am on the east coast of the US so maybe the #newmoney neckbeards are still sleeping.
