So yeah, this beer:

Hnnnnnnnggggggggggg

The funk is freaking out of control. My favorite of the Raleigh Rare bottle share by far.
My favorite geuze! Still kicking myself for passing on the BIAB 6 pack.

Picked up a bottle of cuvee rene at local bottle shop last night. Anyone else have trouble getting the cork out? Had to eventually push the cork through and then strain the peices of cork that came off.

And then the beer wasn't worth all that trouble. High carb but little funk. Virtually no sour taste and very honestly pretty bland and watery. I wasn't a fan. I picked up a couple bottles so i'll see how it tastes over the years.

Last year Lindemans labels got a face lift in Europe, and now it looks like we're getting new ones in the US. These were approved just a few days ago for distro in the states. The Cuvee Rene is only a slight change with what looks like dedicated front and rear labels instead of the wraparound one we have now. There are likely more in the TTB queue to be approved as well.

They should just expand the Cuvee Rene line to include a raspberry, peach, and currant lamic. I'm kind of perplexed that they did a elder flower lambic before a traditional framboise.

Was this really your first taste of CR? I'm not sure if this is a serious post from someone with a Black Raspberry Lambic, Blabaer, and Westly as his avatar.

Some morning laughs. Apparently there's a local guy who believes this and is spreading this ****...

Have you guys heard about the Belgium Mafia watching over the lambic game? Do you think JVR hired them? How do we protect our geuzies?

Hip hop is dead.

I had it once or twice before a while back, but it was always at restaurants. Couldn't really remember what it was like. Saw a couple bottles at the store and thought it's been a while let's try it out again. I just wasn't that impressed by it. Seems like a lot of people enjoy it, but compared to more other lambic I've had I felt it was lacking quite a bit. Plenty of other shelf lambics I'd rather have.

Where are these magical shelves?

I appreciate the restraint of CR and am crazy about its minerality. I could drink gallons of it. One of my all-time favorites for sure.

CR has a lot of bottle variation in my experience. I've had some that were disappointing and much as you describe, and others that were amazing and on par with an average Cantillon gueuze. On the whole it's easily my favorite lambic that's regularly available in the U.S. though.

Yeah pretty much. I realized this recently when I drank a really good one and a mediocre one a week after the other.

Others like tilquin, and hanssens (kriek, oude gueuze, schaerbeekse, strawberry), mariage parfait, etc. All sit on the shelf where I am.
Where do you see the schaerbeekse? I've seen scarenbecca at Green's on Ponce but never seen any schaerbeekse.

It's my understanding that scarenbecca is schaerbeekse. On the description is says schaerbeekse cherries. SeaWatchman

Scarenbecca is just a straight krieklambiek. The Oude Kriek Schaerbeekse that came out during the TdG in 2015 is currently replacing the Oude Kriek in their lineup. Still need to get a page written on L.I for that beer.

Was definitely a highlight. Thanks for the pour whoever you are wherever you are.

There were at least two bottles at the share. I brought one and was pouring it for anyone i came across who had shown any prior interest in lambic or who saw it and came up. The second was left on the free-for-all table by a very generous person a little later in the night.

Both bottles were equally delicious.

had 2 weekends ago and it was ok and another this past weekend that was spectacular.

Alright no way I'm working for this next year. Just no way

bummer that CRSB 2010 isn't gonna make it after they specifically stated that they would be shipping some to the U.S.

My guess is the blossom gueuze will be a batch 2 when it makes it stateside kinda like spontanbasil.

Did Spontanbasil already hit stateside? Don't know why I'm even asking, as though any of it will make it to AZ, but, still, I like to torture myself. Then again, CR Kriek did just hit here, so maybe there's hope after all.
