having plowed through WAY more than a fair share of Hommage b2... there's a fuckload of bottle variation.

some were bad. some were the best beer i've ever had. all sourced from the same location at the same time.

i am a gamblin' man.

Hopefully it is Yahtzee with my one bottle. If not, I will just tell myself it is the best beer I have ever had. Power of suggestion I guess.

Few bottles I drank at the Shelton Brothers were great, maybe because Armand has that magic touch when he pours.

Weird, I've had a bunch of '11 Framboos and '13 Homage and never gotten any bandaid in either. Maybe I'm just not sensitive to the flavor.

You guys are seriously chasing the dragon if you are willing to pay domestic shipping on top of international shipping just to get lambic. Sending a maxed out BiaB order domestically has got to be insanely expensive. Drink the beers you have.

I've never had bandaid w/ Hommage or Framboos, but I just plain don't like Hommage.

I wouldn't describe the flavor I get as bandaid really, more like metallic, and it tastes like a brett thing to me but I'm no expert on off flavor origins.

b1 or b2? B1 bottle I had was an incredible experience. Batch 2 was awful.

I'm not sure. I believe this one is the 07 batch, but I could be wrong. It was amazing. I did get a strong medicine like scent, but I also got the cherries and raspberry notes. I literally though I was chewing on the fruits. Great beer.

every LPF i have ever had tastes like raspberry bandaids. Every Hommage ive had did not. Framboos had a hint, but nothing that took away from the overall flavor.

i have had many people tell me this. i wish it was that good for me.... or maybe not, disliking a few lambics helps prioritize which ones i want.

I've only had 2010 and 2011 sticker bottles before, so I've really only had it fresh. I've tried to track down some slightly older vintages for comparison but with no success.

I wouldn't bother. It doesn't age well. LPK and LPG do way, way better with time.

Anybody been able to find cheap-ish bulk horizontal storage shelves for lambic? I first bought some big steel/plywood shelves, but the wood was bowing kind of bad while only about 40% ish full by volume.

thought a legit wine rack would be better, but the wooden ones with separate slots for each bottle are stupid expensive so i thought i'd sacrifice the aesthetics for economic function and bought these:

But the damn lambic 750s stacks aren't very stable.... the taper of the neck seems to be putting too much weight forward, and i had one slide off the stack... (i saved it barely, poor little st. lamvinus almost lost its life!). Plus the 375s don't stack at all... so i bought 2 $50 shelves that now can only store 54 750s instead of the 150 bottles something i thought



anybody have any other ideas? not really wanting to spend hundreds, not overly worried about how nice it looks (but going for more than cardboard boxes so i can keep track of things!)... Need to store something like 100-200 bottles.

I have a ghetto solution for mine. I just rip up some cardboard and use that to prop up/separate the bottles. Might not work in that rack though - it looks like a knock to the shelf would take them down (top left)

...Why not just get normal shelves for that system and store upright?

If you want storage that is both horizontal and inexpensive basically the only way to do it is to build it yourself. yeah that one looks ok though it still requires racking to get to that capacity, so it's kind of like what i have...

Could you attach some cheap board to the back and put something/extend the legs so it tilts up and back?

actually, that's not a bad idea, the legs have leveling screws and i can just cut some plywood for the back... might try this and see how it goes, it would save me a solid couple of weekends if i could salvage these things!

Yeah man, time is/was an issue and it took a lot of it. Could have been super fast to build if I would have put a lot of consecutive hours but you know, priorities...
