Review for De Cam Oude Kriek. Bottling date unknown at this time. 750ml. Approximately 6.5%ABV. Poured into a De Garde Sundae glass (thanks box_social!)

Appearance: Pours a beautiful, seductive, dark red. A one-finger pinkish-red head forms and quickly dissipates.

Aroma: Fresh cherry jam. Candied lemon. Funktastic basement.

Taste & Mouthfeel: Tart lemon is dominant. Cherry flavor is underlying and very subtle. Refreshing, but relatively sour. Medium-bodied. Low carb.

Overall: Very drinkable despite it's sourness. It's like a tart lemonade with a hint of cherry juice added. Not bad, but not mind blowing. On a 10-scale, I'd rate it 6/10. It hits familiar notes of a Kriek beer, but is overwhelmed by tart lemons. Complete waste of 15 euros. Should have saved my money for another Cantillon Iris or Cuvee St. Gilloise or even Kriek.

Couldn't agree more, I was very underwhelmed. Perhaps, as ASU mentioned, it needs to age. Unfortunately I still have 3 more bottles and no I won't send them to anyone for free but yes I will trade them.

375ml, 2014 vintage. Didn't catch the bottle date. Before I opened it, HenrikO had messaged me to leave me know what a great year it was for their Kriek. He was correct.
If it makes a difference, I had my bottle arrive last Monday, laid it on it's side, and poured it from the lambic basket. If it doesn't, then I guess I got shafted :( I liked 2013 Kriek quite a bit.

Pouring from a lambic basket makes a huge difference in taste. It basically turns it from a lambic into a fruited lambic. Bonus points if the basket is made of something other than wicker.

Anyone use Trappist world for their lambic ordering needs? Their pricing is absurd but they seem to have a decent stock of some of the fruited Lambics that are becoming more and more rare on other sites.

I do on occasion as a last resort

Ordered once to cop Iris glasses before they kept showing up on BiaB and Etre. Expensive, but fine packaging and everything I ordered arrived safely.

Agree on how well packaged they are

Yeah I'll believe it when I see it.

Also woody, vanilla, sour sounds like a bad Bruery beer.
I merged that into 2012 on Untappd. I'd really want to see a picture with a cork (or hear from someone who I know is competent) before I trust that a random labeled bottle (when they still have 2012 available) is a new batch.

The timeline doesn't quite line up either. If you believe Cantillon's Facebook then the newest Cognac barrels were filled in late February 2013. That doesn't seem like enough time to push out a new batch of 50n4e. Both the 2007 and the 2012 bottlings of 50n talk about it being aged two years and then bottled. Batch 2 was bottled on February 23, 2012 but wasn't really "available" until right around May 2013 immediately after Toer de Geuze. I could be wrong, but logic...
