poured it out? yikes.... it is an oak bomb with a young gueuze behind it. kind of weird. reminds me a lot of golden gueuze minus the complexity. i see this developing into something interesting though. overall, nice to see something new in the gueuze game.

Yea, I was pretty surprised myself. I would have finished their share, but we had a pretty large line up. I definitely look forward to my future bottles.

Given the discussion of 3F Schaerbeekse Kriek a few days ago in the Lambic Lovers FB group, I thought I'd post this article I just came across. It's a discussion and video from July about the 2014 harvest and how it was partially destroyed by heavy rains that caused the cherries to become waterlogged, burst and then rot. There's also interviews with 3F's main provider and Michael Blancqaert. The good news though is that the report indicates that a 2015 vintage is forthcoming, but small. Sorry, it's in French though.

FFFUUUU. I've been wanting to try this. I regret not purchasing it when it was turding on websites last year.

On a side note, I think I'm going to try the Boon Cuvee Lambikstoemper first tonight, followed by De Cam Oude Kriek. Tune back in to the thread tonight for reviews on both.

Looking forward to both reviews. Not sure what vintage the Oude Kriek Dr Cam is but I had a bottle with 5-6 years on it and it's still my favorite beer to date. So so so funky.

Say I give an accurate review, do you think people could give me an estimate as to how old it is? I'm going to provide my own opinion, but my general guess just looking at the whole bottle/label is that it's from 2013/2014. The whole bottle is in mint condition. Label looks fresh off a high-res printer.

It's almost certainly new, probably 2014 if you got it recently. When I visited the brewery it became clear just how low-tech his operation is. He prints up a batch of labels and then uses them until they're done, so the dates on them mean nothing (well, except that it was presumably filled after that point). Hell, sometimes the size is even wrong. He also will apparently put lambic on fruit and just forget about it, we had something that had been on fruit for like 2 years (I may be misremembering this and it was just in steel ready to be bottled, but not actually on fruit, either way it had definitely been in a tank for way too long).

Anyway, with De Cam you just never know, is what I'm getting at.

Tried the Tilquin OG^2 last night. I prefer regular Tilquin over the OG^2, but it was still very much enjoyable. Wish I had done a side-by-side so I could better express my thoughts on the matter, but wasn't trying to burn through too much lambic that late into a 2 person tasting session.

Picked up a 750 of the regular Gueuze today along with a Quetsche. Never had the Quetsche, need some feedback on it!

I've only had quetsche once, this year's batch. Way to sour for me and I felt the range of flavors that makes the geuze so good was completely buried. If I ever see a 750, I would like to see how it ages, but not sure i'd pull the trigger when I can get multiple bottles I know I'd like for the price.

b1 got even more sour over time, to me at least... may not be worth it if you think fresh(er) b2 was too sour.. imo.

Review for 2013-bottled Boon Cuvee Lambikstoemper. This is a special blend of Boon gueuze for the Lambikstoemper club in Belgium (gueuze fan club basically). 750ml bottle poured into traditional gueuze tumbler glass. This is 7% ABV according to the bottle.

Color: Pours a fiery orange with a 2-finger off-white head.

Aroma: Bursting with funky smells! Strong smell of an old damp basement. Light bleu cheese funk. Touch of earthiness and oak. I get mushrooms bro. So many wonderful things going on here. One of the best gueuze aromas.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Very lightly carbed despite what I initially perceived. It is very close to being flat. A moderate, yet soft burst of that funky aroma comes out in the taste. Disappears very quickly. It's very delicate and soft on the palate unlike any other gueuze I've ever tasted. Tastes like someone bottled up some funky basement mold. That's the best way I can describe it. The finish is quick, but leaves me wanting more and more.

Overall: This is something special. The flavors are so refined, soft, and yet unlike any gueuze/lambic I've ever had before. This is so damn delicious that the one bottle I planned on trading in a few years, I will likely now keep. If any more bottles pop up, I'm going to buy the max I can afford or am allotted. I will open my 2nd bottle at 2 years, and the 3rd bottle at 6 years. That is assuming I cannot get more.

Note: Be careful opening these bottles! Mine made a love explosion all over the table, but the cork did not shoot out like 3F Golden Blends.

When did your package arrive?
If it was shaken up good during shipping and not allowed a week plus and low temps the co2 would not fully absorb into the beer. This would result in the little explosion to begin with and no bubbles down the stretch
