I was recently given a bottle of 2007 3F Tuverbol. It has the 3F logo on it, but there is little information online about it. Can anyone tell me a bit about it?

I was bracing to have the enamel ripped off my teeth but this one is surprisingly mellow. This is the first batch, best I can tell, as i got it in 2009. It tastes absolutely amazing. Tastes more like a blackberry then any cassis I've but definitely different. This Hanssens glass is a great oldie too. Circa 1960-70.

Bump.

Local store just got some cassis but it is a bit more than all the other bottles. This review has me intrigued, any other experiences with this one?

Had Cassis a few weeks ago. Like he said, not crazy sour like you can sometimes get with Hanssens (pH of 3.4, where they occasionally dip as low as 3.1), but well-integrated fruit flavor and balanced acid profile. I've experienced considerable inconsistencies with Hanssens though, so who knows what you'll get.

On a related note, anyone have any insight on the lot # notching on the labels as an indication of vintage?

Nothing lately, I haven't seen them anywhere on shelves as of late and I haven't had a super fresh one in a while. But as always... if lambic, then buy.

I couldn't help but notice OGV 2008 was on sale on BIAB this morning. 99€, is anyone actually buying these bottles? I suppose it's just about right for aftermarket prices but I have to think that if you throw shipping on top of that, it's a toughie.

Saw that as well. No way in hell I'd pay that for OGV unless it was a 2002, and even then I probably wouldn't. The 2008 I had was really good, but I'd probably take a good bottle of regular OG over it to be honest if it were blind. Definitely not on the level of A/T or Armand'4s in my opinion.

I would definitely pay 99 euro for a OGV '02, but it's one of my favorite gueuzes ever

Thanks, gents :) I was just really surprised to hear - I look for lambic every time I enter a beer store (which, as you might guess, is relatively frequently) and buy basically anything I haven't already tried, and I've never seen a Girardin, ever. Relatively high on my list to try as well...

Old post...but the last time I bought a Girardin on a shelf was at Marty's Newton, and I left a St. Lam on the shelf because I though $35 was a hilarious price to pay for a beer. God damn you 2011 davey101 :(

I did the whole series on my 30th about 6 weeks ago, and thought that Zomer was the best at this point. Very bright with plenty of citrus, pulling ahead of what Lente was like when it was young. I put Herfst at number two now, not terribly far behind Zomer. Herfst was nice and earthy, a bit leafy. More funk and a more restrained acidity. Lente is still spectacular, but doesn't stand out the way that it once did. Winter is an amazing beer, but quite a bit behind the other three, IMO.
You are me? Recently opened a set and had exactly the same thoughts. Herfst is drinking fantastic right now.

A year ago they had the 07 for 99 euros too, so seems right for them. Though back then I had a another place to buy them for 14 euros, sadly they don't have them anymore. :(

Lol I think I paid around 20€ for an OGV '08 375ml on Etre last year. 99€, even for a 750ml, is absurd.

Agreed. You can pick up OGV '07 750ml for 25€ at a bar in Brugges... and up until June you could get them to go, too. Sheesh.

That is ******** crazy high, even for 2ndary market prices. I got 2 OGV's off Etre back in September 2013. Here's what I paid

3F OGV 2008 37.5 cl - €18.97
3F OGV 2005 75 cl - €45.69

You can buy an 08 OGV 37.5 cl right now for 20 Euro on crap beerplanet.eu but of course you can only buy one bottle and have to pay their bulk shipping regardless of what is in the box. Great racket that place has going by always limiting you to one bottle of the select rare released stuff and then basically forcing you to buy a bunch of other stuff to justify the crazy shipping.
