Anyone had bierpallieters lately? Is it good/worth it or just kind of a cool bottle?

I haven't had it in about 2 years, but when we did I thought it was a fantastic example of the "sleepy gueuze" variation ala Doesjel.

I've heard it has carbonated since that time so I'm sure its a totally different beer, but I'd say as long as you aren't giving up an arm and a leg its worth trying.

Cheers!

awesome, maybe a decent novelty rare-ish bottle. i'm not paying too too much, some top-tier breuery offerings (wineif/Rum BT) and midwest stuff for one, an '07 OGV, '06 OG and a '97 fantome. I'm pretty psyched about it for the OGV/fantome, but wondered if i should expect a good beer out of the pallieters as well. Cool!

I'm going to buy the rest of this tomorrow, damn. April 2013 Cuvee Rene. Tip 'o' the cap to huckyourmeat

I housed one of those last night myself. I can't find a better shelf lambic anywhere near me than that. Going to stock up.

I had 2 of them recently and both were carbonated and fantastic.

That hasn't been my experience but I'll have to check now. Mariage Parfait has always been good, but not that good, and I can't really remember the regular that well...
I got some slight sulfury notes from a Boon Oude Gueuze 2011 I had 2 weeks ago.

Vat44 was a great mono-blend from Boon. I highly recommend picking up Vat77 off one of the belgian websites if it's anything like Vat44, I enjoyed it very much. But it's ~3% stronger than your average gueuze/lambic. I'm curious to see how it develops over the years.

And on a random side note, I think this is one of my favorite threads on the whole site.

I actually bought multiples of Lambikstoemper, Vat 44, and Vat 77 all three on the strength of how underrated I think the regular Mariage Parfait beers are so it's encouraging to see people saying these are all better.

My Boon Lambikstoemper should be here this weekend or early next week. I will write up a full review and post here+Daily Drinking Thread. I got 3 bottles, but now may be wishing I'd bought more. Maybe more will pop up on certain belgian spots.

I bought six because I had to, as BiaB only it had it stocked in six packs and Etre had already sold out (they got it in again later but I didn't know at the time that they would, of course). I like to have six or so of any given vintage/release of a gueuze anyway to try multiple times over the years, not always affordable to buy in quantity but for one off releases it seems worth it.

I'm confused, you bought those special beers because their regular "special" beer is overrated?

Who says Mariage Parfait is underrated other than me? Do you actually listen to me?!?

Although I did buy several 750s of 2010 Oud Beersel Geuze Vieille recently for $10 each. Thanks to all the kind folks in Madison, WI for passing on that deal for the last several years.
