Had the most recent batch of Tilquin on 375 last night. Cork shot off pretty much the instant the cage was removed, but very minimal gushing ensued.

Also had a Hanssens last night for the first time in some months. *******, after 3F that's my favorite goozie. So much funk and sour, brilliant finish. Glad to see 375s are $12 here instead of $17 like the last one I bought.

Latest batch - apparently it exploded. I've heard these things blow corks out but hopefully they're not all time bombs and this was an isolated bottle defect.

Def excited to hear this...

Thankfully my bottle of that hasn't exploded.

Btw,

Does anyone have spare bottles (375) of the first year it was bottled? I have the last three vintages and is like to set up a 10 year tasting of it for my 30th birthday in 10 years. Not sure what it trades for but send me a message and maybe we can figure something out?

Are you looking for the first bottling, which was 2010 label (about 100 bottles, I think) or the first bottle that was widely distributed which had a 2010-2011 label?

2010/2011 label. I didn't even know about the 2010 label....I'll just say that I won't be going after that

Hm? The first known bottled batch of Tilquin had a best by date of Dec 10, 2020 and a special tag on the label that said "1er soutirage" (1er = premier = first) along with 2010-2011 label and it was a 750. I've never heard of/seen 375s like you're describing.

I don't know much about it, but Grote Dorst's webstore had something about a first batch, 100-bottle Tilquin gueuze on it for a while. I always assumed it was just the 2010-2011 but didn't really look into it. The store is under maintenance right now so I can't see if there are any more details there.

I'm 24. Maybe I mathed wrong?

I have 11/12 12/13 and 13/14....6 more years and I'd be 30
You just phrased it weirdly:

That makes it sound like you're currently 20.

I was talking about the 750's as well, just forgot to mention size issue.

I had a bottle in hand of the label that said 2010/2011.

I'll see if I can find a picture of it

Yeah, that's the bottle I was talking about. It also has a slightly different label on it with some red worked in, and it was a numbered bottle, but I think it was a little more than 100.

Best picture I have of it (I think I sent it away as an extra on accident (meant to send a different vintage but oh well)

But as you can see the left side date is 2010

I was going from memory. I think I was also a little confused about your statement since DHVL's menu has "1er soutirage" (IIRC, it was "1er" something) on their 2010-2011 375's, so definitely not that special bottle, I thought you were talking about the general batch.

Not contributing any real useful info about the 2010 bottling talk, but I have a 2010/2011 750ml and it's best by date is 4/15/2021

Could be they were saying something about the first batch/release in general. I was just looking to clarify Pneill316 's statement to make sure we haven't missed anything on the batch list. AFAIK it's probably 99% complete excluding the new batch stuff that just came out.

Well ****.

Next time someone inventories their cellar and come across that vintage and doesn't mind getting rid of it then lemme know :)

When my jet-lagged self woke up at 4AM and was struggling to get back to sleep, a random-ass thought occurred to me: would it make sense to start a lambic-focused wiki (or wiki-like thing)? There are clearly a lot of people out there who know a lot about these beers, but there's no place where they can put that information down so that it's easily locatable for future reference. The various beer databases could kinda-sorta work, but you'd want something that's generally editable so it can keep changing as new stuff comes up, and I can see wiki sections being useful (plus there are things like glassware, events, etc that wouldn't be in there at all).

Anyway, no idea if this really makes sense, but it could be neat.
This is a great idea and I fully support it with whatever I can add.
