Just had that discussion with wuntrik. The etre 3F LoD price of hommage and framboos seems to be closing the gap on what secondary sales are going for.
FTFY. Etre is forced to follow suit at whatever markup they need to maintain because takeaway 3F prices overall have skyrocketed in the last couple of years.

I apologize if I made it sound like Etre was gouging. I was just pointing out that the price creep seen with these bottles, combined with an overall drop in secondary pricing, was making these two come closer together. I figure that Etre is just passing along price increases as they come along. They are far from the shitlords at belgianbeerbarn or lambicworld.

Lambic is for the people. Time to seize the means.

You joke, but one of the things I liked about the beer world was the unpretentiousness and ability to buy a world-class beer at a very affordable price. Lambic, at least 3F with their move towards CAG, is quickly moving from supermarket wine to Champagne when bought at source.

edit: to be clear, I don't find pretentiousness a problem in the lambic world as I know it.

It's true. They aren't gouging. Armand has to make those Lambo car payments somehow ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Finished filling up my quarterly box yesterday

Saw this too late for the gb or framboos this morning but did get a Zenne glass which I'm excited about although it will very likely never hold the proper beer. Anyone else have concerns about the quarter ending in December and shipping in cold weather? That combined with whiskey season makes me want to lay low for Q4, although I'm sure my opinion will change when they post something else that I really want

3F prices with Belgium but outside the brewery shot up in the past few years. Using Mi-Orge as a benchmark (Chris is a very fair operator), Hommage was €39.99 on shelf last year, and OG and Kriek 75s have gone from €8 to around the €15 mark.

At least you can see where the money has gone - the lambik-o-droom, more staff, more capacity with which to experiment etc.

Oh, I’m not joking about seizing the means. The retail price of lambic is getting ridiculous at some of these places if you’re of an older generation of lambic drinkers.

Hommage is now 57 euros at MM...I almost ****.

EDIT: I fully agree about Chris though, outside of this one data point. Super guy.

boon, girardin, lindemans, timmermans, de troch are still incredibly cheap and very good

I bought a case each of mariage parfait and cuvee rene yesterday. There were $11 and $9 each because of a case discount. I highly recommend anyone with a nice beer/wine store near them ask the staff if they offer that.

3F has doubled in price here in Australia in the last four years. Went from being between Boon and Loon, now it's higher than Loon by quite a bit.

True, I'm at the point that I'm not buying anymore 'special' 3F bottles. Price difference compared to all the other blenders/brewers is getting ridiculous

It seems like the pricing might be an attempt to cut profits from the secondary market, but I don't see it making a huge impact from afar. I also haven't talked to anyone from 3F about their intention, which might be enlightening.

I'm sure there are no shortage of opinions about how they should release their beer, but to me events like Open Beer Days and the recent Tilquin release seem to welcome reseller mules. Randomly putting things to go, talking to customers that come in and sit down for some beers and clearly know what's going on and offering them the opportunity to purchase bottle sets, distributing to trusted shops and bars/restaurants etc seems like a better way than announcing to come one, come all, to a special day of rare beer to be purchased to go! This weekend only, rare beers not available for takeaway elsewhere.

I've seen Boon Oude Geuze 25cl as low as 1€ in Belgium, and Girardin Black Label for 1.54€, both of those are according to me better than cantillon gueuze

Fond Gueuze Bierpallieters courtesy of stakem. Starts off with green apple tartness followed by a caramel apple sweetness to balance out the funk. A subtle mineral finish to round this one off. An amazing gueuze to finally try, thanks Adam!
