Does anyone have an idea when Cantillon stopped using black foil on bottles of
Vigneronne? I referenced the Cantillon bottle date sheet but the only mention of black foil is from 2004, was this the last/only year there was foil used?

Maybe black foil was a generic thing? I've had a bottle of Fou Foune from 2005, that had black foil too.

The foil was on all the US imports I saw up through 2006, and none afterwards. Not sure about other markets.

EDIT: Nevermind, I think I'm thinking of when they started stamping freshness dates on the back.

DOUBLE EDIT: Now I'm doubting my doubt. I think 2006 for the black foil, which doesn't apply to Blåbær of course.

Ca. 2006 or so
thanks for the input. I'm possibly trading for one, the party involved said the date was no longer on the back but was a 05 or 06. Didn't know if it was a one year thing or not so i guess not.

So, it's safe to assume then this is a US bottle then? not that it really matters much to me anyways.

Well, I would first recommend just taking the foil off. Moisture tends to get under there and rust the cap to all hell. In fact, I would ask him to remove that just to check on the condition before trading. Every time I get a bottle w/ foil on I remove it first and then if it's ok, I loosely put it back on. Plus if he takes the foil off he can check the cork date on it. And if you want to know if it's a US bottle or not, just ask him to see if there's a Shelton import label as the back label.

Question for you guys that have received a bunch of orders from BiaB and other sites.

I ordered a package a couple weeks ago and according to bpost tracking the last update was on 1/7 when it departed the international depot (i.e. left Belgium I'm assuming). I've gotten plenty of boxes where it took a while to clear customs, but I've never had one where there was this long of a delay during this part of the shipping process.

Anyone else had this happen? Cause for concern, or are my jimmies getting rustled for no reason?

If you look at the Bpost tracking there should be the tracking number you've been plugging into the Bpost site and another "reference number" that also looks like it could be a tracking number. Trying using that one on USPS and see if anything comes up.

Same thing on USPS

Does it say "origin post is preparing shipment" on USPS? I had that status for two weeks before the box was in USPS custody after it departed Belgium once.

What do we all know about the Boon Framboises with the pink labels and foil? Any experiences? Its relation to the aberrant 375ml Framboise Boon dusting up shelves?

Same beer as far as I have been able to find out. There was some discussion several pages back about Boon Framboise as well. I think the 75cl is just older/different/export labeling. I've seen 20099 labels, but I think someone mentioned before that there are more recent ones.

Gonna crack my first fou tonight. So excited!

Decant or no?
Gueuze tumbler/wine glass/ or Teku?
intihar?
Do whatever you want. But I'd:
Pour 5-6 oz (wine glass) and enjoy it in its fully carbed glory, then decant the rest in a pitcher, including sediment. That **** stratifies. All the fruit's at the bottom like some ******* dannon.

Or yeah, just intihar it.
