Y'all weren't kidding about De Cam Lambiek Special. This beer is delicious. I wish I could flash forward 3 years to see what this beer will taste like cellared. I imagine it will be incredible.
This reminds me of one of my favorite BA threads. Some guy had a 10 year old beer and a fresh beer of the same label. He was asking if he blended them 50/50, if it would be the same as having a 5 year old beer. He went on to explain that he could have a 10 year vertical by mixing this beer in the appropriate proportions.

good laughs

That doesn't actually work?

I beleive the beer was BCBS, ******* lolz. I seriously can't tell who is a troll and who is a noob on BA anymore.

Point of conversation: I was just reading two old labels from Lou Pepe Gueuze and Bruocsella Grand Cru (vintage 2001, bottled 2003) and realized that the brewery describes them as both being uniquely comprised of three year old lambic etc, etc. So does that mean that the Grand Cru is essentially the same beer as LPG without the addition of the liqueur (sugar syrup) at the time of bottling? Cantillon's website now describes the LP series as two years old lambic, but before the gueuze component was labeled as 3 years old lambic.

I know I've seen both younger bottling of Grand Cru (~2 years in barrels) and older bottlings of it (~4 years in barrels). The GCB has been around a lot longer than the LPG, but I wonder where the overlap is?

Are you asking whether Grand Cru Bruocsella was the "base" for LPG? I don't know, but this is a great question. I did some googling and didn't turn up anything. Maybe an email to Jean is in order!

Can it be to Dany Prignon instead? The answer will be much more entertaining!

I'm not sure, really. It would seem that it used to be, but that it's not anymore. When I open my 2001/2003 bottles I'm doing them side by side to see if there's anything worth noting there.

what year is the lambiek special?

Wow

first time with this one. Put me in the 3f geuze camp now. I do love cantillon, but this is just.....damn!!!

BTW, nice bottle of Blanton's. My favorite bourbon! I drink it so much that I completed the BLANTONS barrel stave!

For those who don't know, each Blanton's bottle stopper has a letter. If you collect them all (B-L-A-N-T-O-N-S), you can organize them on a stave and have a progression of a running horse. Pretty cool!

**** yeah!! My favorite bourbon too! I'm working on that achievement. Right now I've got a B and an O. The bottle in the picture is N.

I drink a lot of Blanton's and never realized that.... Always thought the different horses were just for a unique personal twist. Time to start saving stoppers... Thanks for the insight!

or you can be a little bitch and contact Buffalo Trace and buy a complete set with the stave. If you're looking to collect quickly, start buying the 375s. I think they have the same size stopper. I would always ask for a bottle with a letter I was missing. I searched for a few weeks to land my last stopper. I think it was 'N'

Nothing about that sounds fun. Why would you buy anything less than a 750 of Blanton's for personal/shared consumption?

Just checked the interwebz. You can buy the stave and the entire cork stopper collection for $75. They usually pop up around the holidays.

BACK TO LAMBIC!!

3F Gueze and Cantillon fruited lambics. That is my preference.

Not sure what year that 3F is but the 2010s are fantastic right now. Shouldn't be too hard to get one.
