Frankly, I think the new release was drinking better last time
Surely you mean the beer was tasting better and the experience was more enjoyable. Bummer. The beer is not drinking anything.

what year is it?First time with this one (thanks to Labors Of Hercules )

This is phenomenal. Barrel character right up front, without beating you over the head with bourbon. Alcohol is warming and pleasing, and never overpowering.
what year is it?
what year is it?
I thought the same thing. That was always a beer that I wanted to tick but had totally forgotten about it. Do they still make it?
I wish I had bought much more. I was passing up four packs around the end of that release cycle. Big ragrets. At one point I had over 2 cases of the '13 BCBWs but I think I'm down to one 4-pack since I ended up selling a bunch of them at cost to friends whenever they wanted any. Last time I had it, I thought it was still a bit hot but I'm curious now to see how it's doing.
Yeah they need to do some 100% BA variants. That beer in a cognac or rye barrel would be so good.Underrated bigly.
I don't know if it's because it's Deschutes, it doesn't have a hypey description or because they released so much of it at once. It came through Costco by cases dirt cheap. If it had sold at Abyss variant numbers it probably would have been more hyped.
Might be my favorite largely available (at the time) beer/barleywine for me. Actually, I'm not sure there are many other ba barleywines I've enjoyed as much as the '13.2013 bottle...amazing. At this point the abv is incredibly well hidden, same great taste but the body definitely improved. Super velvety/slick mouth feel. 10/10 will bang again.

I never had a single Gratitude before.Opened a 2015 Gratitude last night and it was really tasting great. That beer never impresses me fresh, but from 2 years and onward it really turns into something special.
That makes two of us.I never had a single Gratitude before.![]()

I **think** the brewery still has it. Next time I am over that way I will check and try to remedy that for you. That makes two of us.
oh ****, thank you!I **think** the brewery still has it. Next time I am over that way I will check and try to remedy that for you.
Added to the list. Even if they are out now the releases do not sell out like they used to and stick around for months, including the $15 BA Gratitude cans.Nope. Three of us.![]()
This was the 2nd beer I ever stood in line for. It's also the first time I really witnessed Neckbeards in the wild: people bitching about changing allocation to meet demand, posting bottles for sale on (LOL) eBay minutes after release- complete with parking lot photo, etc. Ah, 2012. We were all so innocent back then...![]()
batch 2. i heard it wasn't as good as batch 1. drinking this brought back flashbacks of when i enjoyed batch 1. stunning beer, there's no oxidation and i think it's pushing 5 years now? well this can keep going for sure
near perfect beer, left out of my blind tasting due to forgetting it at my parents house the night before
cheers fellas

2006 norrebro litle korkny at brick store pub in decatur, ga.
this was absolutely sublime. i'd never had this beer before, so i have no baseline to compare it to. poured with a slight head that quickly fell. odd light brown, almost orange color with a crazy amount of sediment at the bottom. butterscotch, dark fruits, a little brandy. sweet, but not overwhelmingly so, with enough carb that it didn't feel syrupy at all. ISO permanently.
Who's Aaron, friend of yours?i'd like to have that that side by side with aaron

English style barleywine aged for about a year in a blend of bourbon and rye whiskey barrels from a local distillery, and then dvelcich and @mrsvelcich went and paired it with bourbon dark chocolate truffles with sea salt.
It was really good, and I'm obviously biased, but I think it is one of the best barrel aged beers that Imperial Oak has put out (up there with Quiet Giant and I Must Break You).
i love that name!! but shouldn't that poster look more like this?

I was just organizing all my bottles and my four pack holder from 2014 was marked $14.99What are you guys seeing Olde School for? A Wegmans I do unrelated business with had it @ $14.99 per 4pk. That seems a little more expensive than I remember, maybe $12.99 last time? I kind of want to buy 7 4pks and bury a solid case in my mom's basement next time I go over there... not to be found for 15yrs (since it will be in the pile of other solid and mixed cases of Expo/Bigfoot/Old Stock/Old School).
Thoughts @ $14.99?
