HERMS coil mounting in a cooler?

What kind of parts and methods are people using to mount their HERMS coil in a cooler? I've been searching all over and kind find anything specific, just some wide shot pictures. Also, pros/cons for sidewall mounting vs. lid mounting?
 
Yeah, the HLT coil. If its just freestanding, then do you have the lid off? Seems like you'd lose a lot of heating efficiency that way.

Wait...how is it freestanding and through the sidewall? By mounting I'm just asking about the inlet and outlet.

Ha! It was in the thread title. So if it goes through your sidewall, you have to seal it somehow right? This is the info I'm looking for. What fittings and such are people using to do that?
