yes?Is this when I post the math of $60 for 500mL compared to $40 for 650mL with a graph intersecting the price increase with the US inflation rate (it's a cumulative 9.3% since 2010, so $43.72 for Rare BCBS in 2015 dollars)?
how to you take into effect the cost/rarity of a pappy barrels versus these. Is this when I post the math of $60 for 500mL compared to $40 for 650mL with a graph intersecting the price increase with the US inflation rate (it's a cumulative 9.3% since 2010, so $43.72 for Rare BCBS in 2015 dollars)?

You can't compare it to standard inflation because beer cost in general has grown at a much higher rate. OG Rare was ~3 times the price of high-end bombers- including bottles of OG Vanilla that were sitting right next to it. So the $60 cost isn't that comparatively different this year compared to, I dunno, the $20 bottle of Deth's Tar I'll be able to buy at Binny's around the time #newmoney Rare is released.
Every one of these "How much!?" posts might as well have been quoted verbatim from sites like this in 2010. It's like I'm stuck in some sort of temporal echo machine.
Have beer costs grown at a much higher rate, or is it just our perception of beer costs at the high-end of the spectrum skewing the graph? Is a six pack of IPA that much more than in 2010? Regular BCBS in 2008 cost me $19.99 at Whole Foods, while last year I think I paid $23ish for a 15% price increase--that seems acceptable over 7 years. Meanwhile the amount of $20+ bombers has probably grown 20 fold. The new Rare price appears to me to be a game of 'how much can we get for this' because no one really has a good example of a price ceiling.

You would fit in well in the other thread on this topic.<Obligatory "they can charge (insert price here) for the bottle and it'll sell out anyway, so who gives a ****" post>
<Standard response "If you don't like it don't buy it, more for me" post>
<Required "All of you complaining will be out there entering in everyday for the lottery and waiting in line for bottles and will happily spend $60 for the bottle stop lying to yourselves" post>
<"It is what it is and nothing is going to change so what's the point complaining" post>
In reality, somehow this (whatever "this" is, it's unclear) is all vav's fault.

So wait, is it OK to not like the $60 500ml Rare price point? I can't keep up.
How about we play a game I like to call: "What Would You Rather Spend $60 On??!!"
I'll start!!!
I'd rather buy 66oz of Dark Lord!
No no!!! I'd rather buy 288oz of Old Rasputin!!!
LOLI'd rather buy 66oz of Dark Lord!
Open bottle of Dark Lord. Pour into two glasses. Add a couple drops of bourbon to one glass. Tell me which glass is amazing. I'll wait.LOL
I'd rather buy two packs of black and milds than a bottle of Dark Lord.
I tried but the bourbon just floated at the top of the glass.Open bottle of Dark Lord. Pour into two glasses. Add a couple drops of bourbon to one glass. Tell me which glass is amazing. I'll wait.

LOL Adjuncts!Whatever your opinion is, I'm fairly certain that someone thinks you shouldn't have it and we DEFINITELY should not be discussing it.
I wish I could attend the event and would totally buy the bottles...unfortunately, I'm an independent contractor and can't justify the loss of an entire day's pay for beer. So if you don't care to buy the bottles and you're willing to gopickitupformebro, I'd like to get in line. I can offer handies in addition to reimbursement. All Gooseshitting aside, I will probably throw my hat into the ring for it. I would like to try the BCBS 2015 "directional" (powz87) before Black Friday so I know which bottles to prioritize in the event I have the choice. I still don't want Rare at that price point but I have an inkling that there will be people who'd like a pickitupformebro. Just maybe.

Now we are attacking Monday with the POWER OF POSITIVITY!

Whenever I have a question like this I put it in terms of number of McChickens off the dollar menu. Would I rather have 60 McChickens than one 16 oz. bottle of beer? Yes, yes I would. So wait, is it OK to not like the $60 500ml Rare price point? I can't keep up.
