man, this rhetoric bums me out. sure, new city isn't disneyland, but it's not a war zone. you mentioned it's been a while since you were there -- ride through there. you may find it's changed since you left.
Not to get off topic but I hope that's true.

But I also hope that the "change" isn't because a bunch of questionable real estate deals that allowed it to be safe for upper middle class people to "slum" for a few years. I had some scary moments in that neighborhood- just visiting- but I'm not sure if hippy food production communes are an improvement for people there.

My favorite part of CCBE is the people who publicize their way to intense drinking habits while looking for suggestions. Such as

"I am changing my beer of choice from IPA to Pilsner, got any suggestions." (Obviously followed by the suggestion of don't)
or
"I am making my foray into lambics this summer, what should I try."

I guess good for planning ahead.

EDIT: On a side note, as someone who works on the southwest side I love the idea of The Plant and a brewery opening on the southwest side. Way to many people are scared of Chicago south of I-55.

Anyone else that wants in let me know. I have dvelcich started a conversation so I don't completely mess up all your #newmoney #grandmamulesforme talk. ;)

I'll probably drink and like this beer a lot, however I love the comments. 'The beer God's have finally spoken' seems a bit extreme when we are talking about coffee being added to Dinosmores.

That being said, if I claimed to be truck chasing and buying up all the stock on the north side, would it drive the trade value up enough to get a Nutulhu. JK!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Cheers

If anyone happens to be in the Downers Grove area this evening and wants to grab a beer, I'll be at Cellar Door around 6:30 to watch some NCAAM and enjoy some beers from 5 Rabbit including Arroz con Leche, 5 Rabbit Golden Ale, Fabulosa Porter and 5 Vulture VSOP Paul Masson Barrel Aged with Added Mulatto Peppers (taproom exclusive).

So they literally pulled this one from a barrel on Thursday, carbed it as much they could, and served on Friday.

Fantastic and the recipe change on 5 Vulture is great.

For those who have had BCBCS from bottle recently, how was it? Last few bottles I've had from black friday 4-pack were kind of rough. They're not bad, just reminded me a bit of how 2013 BCBCS tasted with a year on it. Had it on draft last week as well after cafe deth, and regretted not staying for another cafe deth instead. Perhaps palate just changing as well.

^ had one a couple weeks ago and kinda felt the same way. Glad to hear I'm not the only one. Don't think im going to let the last one hang around much longer

Will be testing this today.

agree. it faded super quick this year from the bottle. i had a draft pour a couple weeks ago which was not quite as good as fresh but held up better than the bottle.
