A nice nugget over on BA from Ri0 today regarding NG sour releases:
From today's Madison.com beer chat
So, one more nugget from the conversation with Deb Carey at New Glarus that I'll pass along here. Last year New Glarus dropped a very limited amount of an R&D wild ale called Very Sour Blackberry that was released only at the festival and at the brewery that weekend. It sold out super fast....
This year, in a similar vein, Deb said New Glarus is releasing two gueuzes -- another spontaneously fermented style - one light and one dark. She didn't have a lot of technical details on them - Dan's the guy for that, and he's out of state at a barley conference - but she did say one of them is fermented with Michigan peaches. She said the tasting samples on that are very good.
So that'll be the beer that's going to swamp New Glarus with Great Taste goers this year. Deb said they did make more of the guezes than they did of Very Sour last year, so it should be somewhat more plentiful. Last year's stock sold out in hours, as I recall.

Figured I'd post it here because FIBbin ain't easy. I'll be heading up Friday for those peaches nice and early. Can't wait./]

I thought VSB lasted 3 days last year?

Just moved to Chicago for a summer internship - I'll be around for the next couple months if anyone wants to grab a beer on a weekend. I've got some west coast stuff heading this way so if people want to get weird with some De Garde and such that's in the cards as well.

City proper, or burbs?

Welcome! You will learn to love and hate the Chicago beer scene very quickly!

I'm pretty sure the largest volume was sold on the day of GTOMW and not the day before.

This was the original announcement;

Hey! We got three sour beers in the top 15 from Rate Beer. Not bad..but they have not tasted our newest Very Very Sour Blackberry release. Just in time for the Great Taste! Limit 2 bottles per person- must in attendance. 720 bottles released Friday at 10:00, 360 released on Saturday and the last 350 bottles on Sunday.

Welcome, sure if you go to a few beer events in the City you will be sure to meet a few of the FIB's in the forum. A lot of great beer makes it to the City and there are some great watering holes and Beer Stores to boot. Nothing like good beer meets midwestern charm. Hope you enjoy your extended stay.

Who wants to grab a beer or three in the city next weekend (Saturday or Sunday)? Still haven't checked out any of the good bars. I'm up for anything within cycling distance of Hyde Park - so not north of Wrigley Field or thereabouts. If you're game PM me and we can get a group convo started to work out logistics.

What is the best place to get good food and good beer (beer is secondary) within walking distance to Wrigley? I'll be at the Cubs/Braves game on Saturday with my fiancee and the parentals. First thing that comes to mind is GI but I imagine that will be packed. I'm thinking somewhere kind of nice, maybe around $120 for 4 people. I've been searching yelp and groupon for the past 2 hours and am not quite sold on anything yet. Hopefully some of you fools can help.

I will be no help on your quest for something nicer but I would like to point out that GI Wrigley is enormous. Even on game day, the wait will likely be less than you're thinking. It's a solid backup if you don't find anything.

Go to sheffields... Solid taps normally their "vintage" bottles are sometimes really impressive and they have damn solid BBQ

Listen to Jeb. Anything other than Sheffield's will be a let down. Pulled Pork or Brisket "Sheffield Style" or the brisket nachos. You won't be disappointed.

I suggest getting there at least 2-2.5 hours before game time though. It's usually busy on gamedays.

I blame Pipeworks for the enormous image. Also, the 11% is just a placeholder. Latest word on their retail shop is... Q1 2015! The current tenant is for realsies going to be out by September.

I may be late to the party on this, in fact I know I am, but it looks like Oud Bruin has come and gone at Woodman's in Kenosha already. This FIB missed it.
