I'm a heady fan myself. Pliny was OK not up to the hype. Ghandi bot was good. Snake handler is a very nice dipa as well

Ive not had Ghandi or Snake Handler....yet

Heady has a huge advantage over the rest of the IPAs and DIPAs out there, most of the flavor is yeast driven and thus fades less quickly than the rest that have neutral yeast and mostly hop flavor.

As for Pliny and Heady... I like them both a lot, but heady is not something I would drink all the time...Pliny is. JMO

Id really like to give Elevated and some of the other La Cumbre stuff a try.

After searching out pliny and heady and going great lengths, then subsequently tasting ghandibot which is in my backyard, ill be happy to be 'stuck' to ghandibot. That beer is awesome. I actually picked it in a blind taste test as the best over pliny and ht

Snake Handler and Head Hunter are EXTREAMLY underrated IMO.

While heady is one of the best DIPAs ive ever had, a gentleman over the weekend brought up a good point.
He said that his favorite beers are ones that he can drink over and over, not just one and done.
Which brings up a good point with heady...how much palate destruction could you take while still wanting to taste other beers and food??

Pliny vs Heady in drinkability (Don't you love macro terminology) Pliny wins thru the roof and I just never looked at it that way.

I would definitely drink the crap out of Heady if I had constant access to it. I would never buy Pliny though. Sculpin and Hop Stoopid are way better IPAs than Pliny IMO and way, way easier to get. I'm glad I got to try Pliny, but I would never make a special effort to get another one. Heady is very hyped, but I feel it lives up to that and Pliny does not.

Isn't that why they make sessions? I have no problems drinking as many headys as I can. Though I have better access to it then most.

Different strokes for different folks. Some people cant choke down an IPA whatsoever. Myself? I can drink the hell out of some Heady. I have tried basically all of the IPAs that come up in the "best IPA ever" argument and the only 2 i would consider taking over it is last years Surly WET or Abrasive. No, I am not a Surly fanboy either (not a fan of Furious, bender, etc). But those 2 were phenomenal. On another note, if you ask me, 99% of Rogue beer is undrinkable garbage, yet somehow they manage to have a fairly successful business going so apparently a few people disagree.

I'm with you on the rogue. Another thing to keep in mind with Pliny is that it was one of the first DIPAs and really defined the style until all these other beers (and hop varieties) came along. I'll still take a fresh Pliny over 99% of other IPAs and DIPAs. But I haven't had HT or ghandi bot...

<fastens helmet strap>

Hops in a conversation about good beer is like putting A1 sauce on a 3 finger porterhouse.

<dives back into fox hole from where I came>

Name a beer that doesn't have hops that should be considered a top tier beer ..... :D

Bump since I am going off topic also

Damn all of you. I enjoyed DIPA's from Brooklyn, Goose Island, and Ruckus tonight. I wanted to drink low ABV beers. After all of the threads I read all I wanted was a Ghandi Bot but I didn't have one. I settled on a Heady, my second choice, but always a good one.
