some open a blue bbls.

I had it on tap last weekend at The Bruery and it was solid. Somewhere in-between Befuddlement and Wineification. When all 3 are compared, Befuddlement tastes too sour with a hint of acetic acid (I'm highly sensitive and it's a flavor I get in SitR too). Blue BBLS has no acetic quality and mild sourness, although the fruit is not as strong as it is in Wineification.

I thought Wineification was by far the best, but Blue BBLS easily takes second for me.

for me Befuddlement > Wineification II > Wineification >>>>> Blue BBLS

What are your thoughts on Melange 1?

I thought Befuddlement had more berry flavor than Blue BBLS (not surprising as blueberry is a hard flavor to showcase in beer without being artificial) but was closer to Melange 1 than the others.

Are you a Hoarder? I'll trade you my Befuddlement for your Wineification... ;)

Tried Blue BBL's and Wineification II last night. For me it goes Wineification>Wineification II>Blue BBLs>>>>>>>Befuddlement. I'll trade all the Befuddlement for Wineification too

Can't get enough of Mash and Coconut, so sad no bottles. Also, they couldn't find another keg of **** w/ coconut when I was there, so no growler for me.

So according to my careful analysis, and with only one more month for releases this year, we are anticipating the following for December:

S.H.I.T. (who knows?)
Mystery Beer #2
Hoarders Blend #1
Hoarders Blend #2
Rum BA Autumn Maple

Is there anything else?

I saw in the Hoarder's allotment pickup binder (the one where you sign that you picked up your bottles of Hoarders exclusives) that they had columns for the 2 Blends - meaning that we'll get a bottle of each with our membership.

I'm thinking that next month we'll simply get a bottle of each of the hoarders blends without the option to buy more (maybe, we'll see), as well as the announcement of Mystery Beer #2 (if tradition serves as an example then we'll likely be able to purchase more of this one).

But I am skeptical about the release of **** and Rum BA Autumn Maple.

Fingers crossed, I guess.

Mash & Grind
Oaked Old Richland
Limoncello sour (it's a Q4 preservation beer so it's safe to assume the RS and HS would get a crack at it)

Not sure if Rum Autumn Maple is still coming, it fell off the RS calendar a while ago (the one they stopped updating), so that's a crapshoot. Also wouldn't be surprised if M&G slips into 2015 and who knows what's up with ****. If they deliver on everything AND they're all good, it would be a strong way to end the year, but I'd be pretty surprised.

Fingers crossed, I guess.
Indeed. I want to be optimistic, but it has been a rough year for the Bruery.

**** Coconut >>>>>> Mash Coconut

Lol, we differ there too. Thought the **** wasn't strong enough to overcome the coconut's fresh, almost vegetal flavor. But the Mash took care of it.

What did you guys think Ryan_G and grrrah?

At least our coovie of Mole Smoking Wood and Mash and Coconut was awesome.

Agree with jtmartino. WineII > BBLs >> Befuddlement. Tho Befuddlement was still good to me and tasted like it was supposed to be a sour complimented by other parts, and BBL tasted like a stout complemented by adding a bit of tartness.

Mash+Coconut was macaroons, and made me regret not buying any regular Mash. **** meh to me.

If **** went bad , then it'll be interesting to see how they handle it. A bottle is included in membership fee at least for RS.

With a ******** email and more empty promises of non infected beers for their societies.....next year.
I'm far from a legal expert, but failing to deliver on an agreed upon portion of agreement is right up there with breach of contract. Is it not?
There were very few beers I was looking forward to this year, and this was one of them.

Opened a Rue D' Floyd tonite. Still delicious and no signs of infection whatsoever. It's been in the back of my fridge since it was released.

Mash+coconut=****+coconut - 2 different base beers that are each boring on their own

I'm guessing that when they tasted this batch of S.H.I.T., they weren't pleased with it and just adjunct filled as much as they could, thus why the tasting room has had endless growler fills of it since it was released. My money is that they went back to the grind to re-brew it and are just going to blend in enough of the partially barrel aged version to meet that quota of it being barrel aged.

Cause yeah, for them to have the variants all this time with endless growler fills and not a single update on the base beer, nor any tappings of the base beer in all this time... something is up with that.

Anyone willing to help out a non-local RS member with a growler fill of Mash & Coconut? Would also be up for expanding into a trade for HS beers as well.

No, they specifically include this text:
If a beer included in the membership or already paid for as an allocation does not meet our quality standards, we may replace the beer with a beer or merchandise of equal or greater value, or we may refund you the retail amount (if included in membership).
That alone means they can essentially do whatever they want as long they give you some combination of beer and money that equals the value of the membership fee. Even if that clause was absent from the society agreement, holding their nuts to the fire on releasing a bad beer wouldn't be beneficial. They could meet the terms of the contract by releasing the flawed beer since the contract contains no actual promise of quality, just that they will release a beer called "So Happens Its Tuesday."

Legally speaking, breweries hold all the cards in memberships as long as they put a few very basic protective clauses in the verbiage they use when people purchase the membership. Even if those clauses weren't there, you'd spend far more than your membership cost getting an attorney to even understand the potential case, let alone go through the process of filing and litigating.

Through the first couple years of the RS, I thought the Bruery had learned from Lost Abbey's mistakes from the Saints and Sinners clubs - communication, realistic estimates, and staying ahead of problems by being open about them and delivering favorable solutions. Over the last 15 - 18 months, they've gotten so hammered by problems that I thought they would have a fairly open conversation with their members before renewals this year in the interest of regaining some lost trust. Instead, they completely ignored problems and just asked for more money. Regardless of whether you think they can fix their problems, it's a clear indication of how they plan to communicate in the future. I've enjoyed many of their beers over the year and decided to renew HS for one more year in the hopes that they'll get their issues fixed, but as time goes on, my optimism is waning.

They have had their problems but they also have great customer service. I just got my flemishmish bottles they have were about 1/2 full of pulp. a few emails and a picture later and boom, credit for the price of the bottles.

as long as they correct their mistakes i am fine with throwing money at them. In fact i am about to open a Wineification II...

The concerns about **** are mystifying. When the year began, **** was briefly listed as a July release. This was quickly changed to a December release. Nothing has changed since then. It's still scheduled as a December release. I don't understand the conspiracy theories with this one.

No skin in the game but variants don't usually show up first.
