I've bounced back and forth between "Whale Tail Pale Ale" and "Snail Trail Pale Ale", but I've never been able to choose which one I like better.
Allz I’m gonna say is most people like whale tails a lot more than snail trails.

I kegged my first batch of Lug Nut Porter, I can’t wait for it to be ready. It may be going to the homebrew jamboree in September. We shall see. Dunkel’s Weizen and Roggen’s Bier will be going too.

This is Porter, sometimes called Lug Nut.

The first Porter I brewed I named Power Outage Porter. During my brew day we had to evacuate to the basement from a tornado, power was out too

It was during my boil so I had to carefully move the kettle out of the way to make room. The next day, the threat behind us, I was able to finish brew day.

I tend to think I’m pretty good at naming my beers. I do a lot of sentimental and nostalgic names and also silly ones

One of my favs is a beer I brewed for my oldest son right when he was born. It was a milkshake ipa that I called “Milo’s First Latch” to play on his first “batch” and breast feeding

When my base grains get low, and it's time to restock - I always do a recurring batch with the range of Pale Ale styles ... Called "What I got left". Couple pounds each of MO, Pilsner, Munich, with flaked corn, biscuit, and carapils. Hops? What I got left that I am not sure what to do with.

one of my favorite stouts is sweet baby jesus . in that vein i think i will make a sour imperial stout with some matzoh as specialty grains..

it will be called: Sour Adult Moses.

An advantage of brewing clone recipes is the names have already been given ;)

Beyond that...I am reminded nightly during the evening "Pharma Hour" on TV that "names are hard", so I generally don't try to get creative and just stick to style and maybe a notable ingredient for any original recipes...

Cheers!

My brew names fall into 3 categories:
1. Just the style: Mosaic APA, Maple Brown Ale, Dubbel, Simcoe SMaSH West Coast Pilsner, etc.
2. My wife's name + something related to the beer: Marmalade <Wife's Name>, Golden <Wife's Name>, Juicy <Wife's Name>, Smoky <Wife's Name>, etc.
3. Something creative. Prince of Darkness Stout, In the Mouth of Madness Double IPA, Deeper into the Mouth of Madness Triple IPA, End Bringer: In the Mouth of Madness 2025, Wildfire, Berliner Wise Guy, Eclipse, Stardust, Thor's Hammer, etc.

The creative ones are the most fun, but they also are the hardest. Would be a lot easier if I just randomly named them, though.

I can see the fun naming our beers. As stated earlier I don't like names that have zero clue of what they are. I see too much of that in the craft world.

Some I have used:
Raptor Red (SpaceX successful raptor engine launch)
Power Outage Porter (brewed during a power outage)
Roxy''s Red Tail Ale ( my bird has red tail feathers)
Autumn Red
Helles Resurrection (a new recipe I did for a Munich Helles)

Why not Helles in a handcart 😂

Some of mine are only unclear what they are until you hear the style. For example, "Stardust" was a Galaxy hop-centric pale ale. "Eclipse" was a really dark stout. "Wildfire" was named that way because the American hops used reminded me of the forest, but the color of the beer was an orange-red that reminded me of fire. I think my double and triple IPAs and high alcohol imperial stouts and so on can just have names themed around craziness and people will just be like "Hm, yeah. That makes sense."

Have a cream ale going to a few comps with the name Jenny C's...a play on Genesee Cream Ale...and the funny thing is one of the comps it's in, in upstate NY, the judging is being held at Genesee brewery! :D So hope it medals so that they say the name out loud and it gets some laughs.

My last Helles batch was called -
Scorned Woman Fury.

(Hell has no fury like a woman scorned)

The name most memorable was during the 2002 World Cup. I made a nut Brown ale using Argentinian Cascade hops (a little more "grassy, earthy).

Called it:
Maradonna's Messi Brown Nuts Ale.
Amazing batch that disappeared on the final match with Brazil taking home the trophy.
