In addition to my brewing hobby I'm do a lot of home automation and 3D printing projects. Occasional the three come together, like this CIP timer. The device is essentially a remote control for a Home Assistant automation (in NodeRed) that turns on a smart plug for 2, 10, or 20 minutes which cover my CIP times for my fermenters (20 min) and kegs (10 min) as well as rinse/sanitize cycles (2 min). At the end of a cycle Home Assistant sends me a phone notification which means my watch vibrates and tells me its complete. This saves the immense hassle of turning the pump on and remembering to set a timer
The box contains a D1 Mini ESP32 with an ESP Home configuration to read the buttons and drive the display. Everything else is done in Home Assistant, mostly in Node Red. Not pictured, the back has embedded magnets to stick on the Wall Control panels I have in my brewery. For now its USB-C powered but eventually I'd like to convert to battery power.
