My original mash tun was a 17 gallon rectangular cooler with a bazooka screen. Still have it i just felt like normal 5 gallon batches were too small for that cooler. There was a ton of head space that accounted for a 2-3 degree drop in mash temp on those batches. Ive wanted a 10 gallon cooler for awhile and very glad i finally got one.

New toys are always fun to play with. Sounds like the right tool for the job on those smaller (nonfinsfanmonsterbeer) beers/batches.

Already thinking up ways I might make use of one. Anything north of 1.07 on my current setup is going to be more hassle than its worth I reckon. A 10 gallon cooler +/-FB, valve and cam lock would be a simple workaround. Make one of those big flavorful complex stouts so I can stand with the rest of y'all in the thread. :p

Flocc, just broke my graduated cylinder for my hydrometer. Did at least get the FG reading for my RIS, 1.032, making it a staggering 10.1% using the alternative formula.

Time to pick up dog poop and mow the lawn.

It happens on and off.

That humour is as subtle as the letter 'b' in 'subtle'.

:D

Got to the LHBS to crush my rye. Those guys were brutal (in a joking way). LOL - they said I should have done everything you guys suggested. I had to explain that I tried all those methods, and failed miserably. Oh well, at least I get to brew tonight! Now, should I start another thread about my third AG batch, just update y'all here, or leave well enough alone & just concentrate on the brew?

Hmm...

Decided to set up something a little more her speed, she's kicking my ass currently. Lol.

You need to whip out the dodecahedral die and start changing up the rules lest Hansel and/or Gretel smoke the witch to quickly.

now having a Dirty Bastard with glass.

Truly indebted to the folks of this thread. This is a beer I would otherwise never have looked at twice.View attachment ImageUploadedByHome Brew1458508158.093897.jpg

My Brazilian is not as good as my Mexican unfortunately.

Me too. I had a quick chat with a guy last night
Him: do you speak Portuguese?
Me: no
Him: English?
Me: yes
Him: French?
Me: ??? No. Spanish and English
Him: *turns and walks off*

The "refresh" button on the top right of my app seems to have disappeared. Pretty annoying because it means I need to go back out of the thread and then back in if I want to refresh. Anyone else have that issue?

I'm assuming you don't have any iPhone, but try swiping down.

FTFY (that's what I thought it said at first glance.

Dinner in a few.

Have not PKUed. Watching bball and drinking a Guinness. Went to the play this afternoon to support my niece but got to leave after the first act. Score. Got a wigsplitter on deck for tonight. Really excited to try that one.
