Just gelatined the Helles. All your fault, Gavin. Cant wait to post a liter of it in my Hofbrau mug in your recipe thread, tell you that. Also, gelatine stinks. Never touched the stuff before.

I look forward to seeing its gem-like beauty and whimsically foamy white head presented as a foil to a harsh Oregonian winterscape +/- friendly horsedag.

I've never noticed a smell but I've not tried to smell it. How much did you use?

On the topic of actually brewing beer (yes, I am going to brew beer...shocking) if I rush my beer to be ready for St. Patrick's Day, what besides whilfloc can I do to clear this stuff quickly? Cold crashing is out, as I will only have 7 days of total fermenter time, and I'm not bringing the temps down below active yeast temps for any part of that 7 days.

I'd give yourself 2 weeks to ferment and crash and 2 weeks to carbonate rather than 3:1

You could probably fine with gelatin at bottling, rack onto the gelatin like you would your priming sugar solution. Couple days in the fridge would probably drop it clear. I know it works better if the beer is already cold... and have never done this, just spitballing.

Guess you could try this stuff.

Half teaspoon of the Knox. It honestly reminded me of dog poop, not joking. That I willingly put that in my beer, boy.. tells you something I guess. But knowing that gelatin is made from it's not too surprising I guess.

Playing with floopy dag ears and drinking a homebrew pilsner. Gott damn that sure breaks up the work day nicely. About to make some lunch... not sure what. I have some good eggs and tortillers, maybe do some breakfast tacos.

Are you sure your giant dag didn't take a **** in the house somewhere?

I have never experienced that smell.

Eggs are from a farm a town over, nice all cage free stuff. Everyone talks about how much better eggs from a roaming chicken taste like, that bugs and all that are good flavors. I can't tell anything. I still get them knowing they're not just shoved in a ****-laden cage though. They arent priced that highly either. The farm also sells beef and pork, been wanting to try that out. It's expensive by the pound though, but priced well if you get in bulk. If I didnt use all my freezers for kegging I'd pick up half a pig/cow or what not and try it out. They do have 25lb assortment packs, prolly try that out.

Definitely try it out before you buy bulk. Some ranches have better beef than others. Plus, the butcher they use can dictate what cuts are available and how good they are.

I couldn't live without the free, free-range eggs I get from home. Can't taste a difference, but knowing they are healthy is a huge bonus. They are however oddly different. They are often twice the size of store bought eggs, usually find one double yolk per dozen and they are nearly impossible to hard-boil. My parents buy a cow once a year and we just buy meat from them now usually. We used to raise one every few years but aside from the emotional distress of having your pet that you once bottle fed slaughtered, it's just too much work for my parents now that all the boys are moved out.

If I could find a damn job that would allow me to work from home, I'd buy property out there, grow hops, and have a small family farm like I grew up on. Some day, maybe, unlikely.

You sure you didn't mix it up with gifts form the daghorse. I really don't see the similarity.

You paint a pleasant picture. Pils, tacos and dane ears. FTW

Anyone here eat Pei Wei? Watch out, you might get ripped off when ordering the larger size portion. I've suspected this before, but today I whipped out the scale.
Small portion:

So called larger portion:

Someone at Pei Wei is going to get a new hole verbally chewed through them.

We all knew your pei wei was getting smaller...figured it was just the treatments you were taking.

Two thoughts come to mind...

First off, why eat at a place that conjures images of this?

And did you really need a small and a large portion for lunch today? ;)
