The problem with those strips is it also measures the environmental temp if they aren't sealed and seated 100%. Its almost like it takes an average reading of the ambient tempreture as well as the vessel. I've seen my temp strip read -6% from a laser reader before...and that could make all the difference

For what it's worth, i'm a bucket guy. The water circulating around my RISs and DIPAs is set to 60f for day 2-3. Day 1 and 4, about 63-65. I've ran into other off flavor issues, but never the fermented to high temp flavor..which I'm aware of myself.

I can't believe the sheer noobishness on display here. All the dubious questions asked, no one even bothered to ask the really important question.

What color is your mash tun? Everybody knows that a blue mashtun is the key to great beer. It sciences the **** out of your beer.

My mash tun is a big bag I made out of fins' mom's nylons.

So... not applicable?

Yeah, but in the upper left corner, right below the 'post reply' button there is a link that will take you to the 1st unread post.

Ah, interesting, never saw that. So you'd have to click the thread title (to go to the 1st page), then click that link.

I usually go from the My Replies list on the site, but going to the last page or last post would make that your last read post.

Not to split hairs but it is your manifold that you made from @finsfan 's mother's hoisery. Credit where it is due. Your mash-tun is still made of science albeit not as potent as that contained in a blue pastic one.

Aluminium has less science per gram than blue plastic. To put in science terms. Your mash-tun has a lower coefficient of derp.

I click on 'last page' from the my replies list as well and the link is there too. Click that and you jump right to where you left off.

I'm so glad that all the science that gets dropped in this thread has been reduced to this. This I can laugh at. Science is inherently unfunny, because science.

I think that only works if your last read is actually on the last page. Even if you're way behind on a thread, the First Unread button seems to just take you to the first post on that last page.

Or maybe it has to do with the posts per page setting as well (I have it at 40).

How DARE you anti-science the science! Your lack of science is abhorrent. Science more or accept the curse of a thousand flea's upon your armpits, fiend!

Science be praised.

Damn... I'm all sorts of pissed about this whole stupid situation.

I quit. Come get my stuff, local pickup only... I'll part it out.

My beer ferments by magic and measure volumes as compared to the weight of a duck. Don't even get me started on temperatures.

Btw I have a few dozen ducks for sale.

Don't be so SADjockey on us, we all go through a bad phase of brewing every now and then. Hell, I had to dump 3-4 batches in a row a couple years ago due to a bad bucket and almost quit the hobby. Pretty glad I didnt.

Is that how you got started with sours?

I had a bad bottling bucket caused several batches of gushers. Easy fix.

Yeah, I'm not that tore up about it... just pissed off.

I felt like I changed nothing and I was absolutely killing it. Probably the damn evil glass carboys sabotaging my beer at night, since now they sit in the corner, unloved. I might have to bring the stupid things back into rotation now.

All I can say is thank god it's not an infection... but I'd never man up to it if I did have one. It would be quietly disposed of without any discussion.

Just send me those carboys and I'll make them happy again. I only have about 10 and need more. :D

I'm open to receiving any unwanted/unloved legitimate fermentors. My water bottle ferm vessel days are coming to a close I think. Ghetto for a year is about all I can stand.

Just be sure not to forget and put it in your sig.

Previous: Some infected abomination
Next: The same but with more hops

Haha... should send you the 6.5 gal one with my name on it, wait until you fill it, then call it in as stolen.

"Yes officer, there was already wort in there."

Finally went in for my 2 yr review 3.5 months late. Very disappointing outcome. Resume output will resume and increase.

Not exactly haha. All those batches were just bad. All tasted the exact same even though they were very different styles. Tossed the bucket and dumped the beer. Getting into sours was a planned event. I have never taken a bad batch of clean beer and turned it sour to save it.

Flocc dude... go over the man's head. Get it over with.

They won't fire you... tell him you're going to quit anyway and they'll have fun watching your procrastinating boss slam the department into the ground like so many SpaceX rockets.
