Oh, while we're on the topic of cleaning fermenters... because this thread does that, how about those buckets, eh?

Seriously my favorite pieces of brewing equipment right now. Dump hot wort in. I can manhandle the things and drop them on the concrete. Cleaning? Haha... hahahaha. So much easier than a carboy, I don't even use a brush. Wash cloth and just a sprinkle of oxy. It's amazing.

I can't believe I was in the glass carboy camp for so long.

Buckets for sure. Carboys are for hipsters.

He seems to enjoy that part of it though, so more power to him.

I got ya. I don't label the bottles for myself, only when I give them as gifts. It is just something I enjoy.. I've made them for other people on HBT as well, just because as you can see.. I have more than enough spare time. There were a few I made that I am really happy with but most of all, they have made for a decent collection to add to my portfolio of non-CAD program material.

Speaking of those fancy bottles... Would really like to have some of those for my collection. I've got room next to the other stuff you brew.

Doesn't count if they come empty though.
I asked her to point out where Fins' bottles should go.

Hope I don't have to explain to her that he didn't come through, probably break her little heart.

Well dang! Now I look like a Richard if I dont send you something.

Haha I would be down for a trade here sometime soon. I have about 4-5 boxes to get out first but if you do want to trade I can put you on the list. :D

No worries about timing. I'm hoping the FFL box I sent this week doesn't freeze on its way across the country. Use your judgment on the weather, I'm ok waiting

Sounds good, should be there in a week I would imagine.

I agree, but for sours I wont use plastic. I've had too much trouble with them in the past. As long as you take precautions, you can minimize the risks involved with glass.

Buckets? Hah! Conicals.

I use better bottles for my sours. Why do say no plastic?

Lol.

Let's plan for one down the road sometime, I doubt I have any commercial beers that you would want that you don't get distro on.

Hopefully I can get a few more brews going in a short time here, then I'll be down.

I just have not had good luck with them. It may have been the beer and not the plastic, but my experiences with better bottles all ended in dumpers. Not doing down that road again.

Peach sour I sent you came out of a better bottle

I know they can make great beers, I just prefer carboys now. Way easier to clean compared to plastic carboys. All preference though.

Jokes on you!

Jokes on you!

Note to self: Include a bottle of Irish Stout from my first batch.

Note to others:

1. Can of LME was 5 years past expiration date
2. Scorched LME
3. Pitched around 80°
4. Added 2# boiled DME around day 4 of fermentation since I messed up the measurements.
5. 1.020 FG 'dry stout.'

Tasting notes: Strong green apple/fusel alcohol up front, cider-y mouthfeel which gives way to a caramelized/ashy, yet slightly sweet finish.

Anybody wanna trade HB? A spot just opened up.

Don't worry, I gave up trying them around August... brewed in like, Oct. of 2014.

I wouldn't send them to my worst enemy.

Well, there's one person I'd send them to.

A+ for effort I thought too. Unfortunately it was a dumper for the guy. Still for a 1 gallon batch a pretty cool experiment.

Not sure how it could ever work.

I was trying to figure that out too. Wash out the inside of the pumpkin with vodka or Star San solution? Bake it in the oven to kill off the bugs?
