Ooo here goes a good one...
when you travel, do you take beer with you or leave it to chance to try something local that you wouldn't try normally?

If I'm driving, I always bring some with... with the exception of my last trip, which was a huuuuuuge mistake. Didn't know the only decent bottle shop was 20-30 mins away and couldn't even get away long enough to go, until the next day. Thought I was going to die, the restaurant we went to didn't even serve alcohol.

Flying, no... I'll settle for Busch/Bud light if I can't find anything else. After a few gin and tonics on the plane, of course.

Depends. If I'm going to a work conference, it is almost certainly going to be at a state park in a dry county and/or a 30 minute drive from anything of consequence. BYOB.

If I'm traveling for pleasure, I plan around locations that have breweries. Local all the way.

I like to play the game of chance. I'll always snoop around for something local or something I haven't had before. I have run into situations where it back fired, but bourbon will always be there for me with open arms in that case.

Might have to post my own QOTD for my fellow peasants in the thread that can't afford such luxuries as recreational travel... if I had that chance, the only instance in which I would take my own beer would be if I could not get any at all. Camping or going to the beach. Otherwise, I travel with only what I can carry.

Hey ive got a decision between New Orleans LA, Houston TX, and Atlanta GA, maybe Seattle WA, for company training, each are different courses but relevant t my line of work so I really only care about the beer scene. Where should I pick?

Seattle- I went a couple of years ago and enjoyed every second except for the panhandlers. I really liked the tap house grill.

Come to Philly, bring no booze with you.

on a second note, Id love to see another QOTD from somebody. I'm boring lol

I remember when we did a trip to London a few years back, between both me and my wife we had one carry on bag for the both of us for a four day trip. It was spectacular blowing ahead of everybody in customs, waiting for their bags to come across the conveyer belt.
I miss those days of travel.

Had one of those nights where I woke up and felt like I had 5 million things to do or the earth would explode. Woke up in the morning and realized that the reality of it was that I had 3 phone calls to make...

What causes our brains to do that **** to us?

QOTD: When do you think @BeerMeDuffman will brew again?

I got two recipes I'm tinkering with, an IPA and a BA treated stout. Hopefully the IPA will be soon. I want a higher temp on the stout to go along with the Belgian stout yeast for the profile I'm looking for, but the IPA should be real soon.

When I travel I like to experience the place like a local. I ask people on the street where they would go for meals, I look around bars and restaurants and try what I see the most people having. I think it is more fun that way. Sometimes you screw yourself, but its all a good time in the end.

When did you brew last?

Right??!!
My brain is a dick...I wake up sometimes and it feels like I'm trying to figure out some kind of weird equations in my head and can't go back to sleep.
Other times I hear a sound and jump out of bed, looking for weapons I no longer sleep with, thinking I'm in a location I haven't been to in over a decade. Stupid brain...I don't like you and you don't like me, let's just do this thing so I can get back to killing you with alcohol.

Yup. I was awake for hours thinking "holy ****, I'm a total loser...I can never get all this stuff done and it will be the end of the world...". So out of whack with reality.

I like to get into conversations with the bartender at the hotel bar, if there is one. Ask them where they go to eat the good stuff, where the best brew-pubs are. Long enough conversation may lead to a free drink or two.
Also, always were a Shane Victorino jersey/tee shirt if you visit Maui. You will never wait in a line for anything.

My brain just likes to keep me from falling asleep. Especially when I am exhausted. It tends to think I have to be working over some trivial crap or gets me asking myself why I said/did something 10+ years ago. My brain is a dirtbag.

If I have less than 3 beers, I find it really hard to get to sleep. So, I'm basically just drinking so I'll be well-rested.

You want me to be well-rested don't you?
