Hello,

I built a glycol chiller from an old 5000 BTU window A/C unit a few months ago. It works great, except that every 2 or 3 chilling cycles (on average) it trips the GFCI outlet I have it plugged into. I've tried different circuits and removed every other load from the circuit and it still trips.

The A/C power cord goes into a power strip with an aquarium circulator fan and light also plugged in, then the power strip gets plugged into a temp controller which plugs into the outlet. The GFCI does not trip immediately. Like I said, it happens eventually after 2 or 3 cycles of the A/C running.

Looking for some tips on debugging this issue.

Thanks!

I would try it on another GFCI if possible. I've heard they sometimes have intermittent problems with motors in general which may include compressors but i'm not sure why.
