If this were BA we would be lauding the genius marketing directors on this move. And this thread would have been reposted by Todd so it looks like he broke the news.
From beeradv

That's actually a great point you make. If all of the bottles are the same and its about either taking a label off and putting on another, or reproducing a label to look like a prop or rare etc. that will be pretty terrible.

This new bottle design is nothing but bad. Pure money grab, nothing else. Regular BCBS will now be $9.99 per bottle as opposed to the $5.99 for the 12 oz. It's an increase from 50 cents/ounce to 59 cents/ounce. Doesn't seem like a big deal until you realize you're forced into purchasing 5 more ounces per bottle. So for someone like me, who just likes to have BCBS around for some casual drinking once in a while, it's now $40 just have four bottles in my possession compared to $24 in year's past.

i dont know why anyone would be excited about these changes, less beer for more money and no more 4 packs.

New label design is terrible - it looks like if a traditional UK brewery were to do a gimmicky barrel aged stout to appeal to the trend.

No 4pks is worse. Sure it'll cost more and be more of a hassle for everyone.

New bottles blow so hard...just another way to jack the price per ounce and they're ugly.

Plus shouldn't this lead us to believe there would be a decrease in pricing for the variant and prop due to them going from 22oz down to 16.9oz? (which would be cool but unlikely I'm sure...) You guys are seriously out of your minds with some of the pricing speculation in this thread! Unless we're talking gouged pricing...

No, there you get posts like:
  1. Poorly worded comment against GI with train-wreck grammar and punctuation
  2. Poorly worded comment in favor of GI with train-wreck grammar and punctuation
  3. Longform version of #1, seven paragraphs of ranting garbage about globalization and the "craft beer revolution" from a guy who stacks kegs at a liquor store
  4. Rebuttal to #3, also several paragraphs of rambling ****, but about markets and supply/demand curves, which clearly shows that the author has no idea what he's ******* talking about
  5. Several pages of bickering
  6. "Dude remember when this sat on shelves?"
  7. Mod post that not only aims to stop the bickering, but somehow also insults everyone
  8. Couple neutral posts to avoid mod wrath
  9. "Wow! I am new to beer and excited to try this beer finally!"

Oh **** that's not good for Philly. BCBS was already $10 a bottle in a lot of places. Am I going to see $15 now?

I think $15 will be the low end. Seriously.

For real though, I'll let everyone else brave the cold and stand in line for this ****. I'll just break out the big guns for this release.

...like, not in the trading sense. Literally, big ******* guns.

This is so great! I love the comments from the InBev apologists in here

2013 they said the deal would mean more Bourbon County at a lower price point

More yes, but also more divided (making it harder to find) and used as marketing gimmicks #MigrationWeek
Lower price point, HA it's gone UP ever year since the acquisition
The 16oz bottle that screams marketing gimmick is just icing on the cake

bummer, i really liked bourbon county.

My thought was always "why **** yourself over *insert rare hyped expensive stout* when bcbcs is $5/bottle and awesome?!", guess it won't be bcbc for that anymore (unless one can still get kegs for reasonable prices)...

honestly, probably good timing so i can consider re-upping Bruery this year. a couple hundred bucks for all-i-want-in-a-year super easy, world class stouts... and i won't have to fight the crazies.

Both of them go at least one adjunct further than necessary.

"How about maple and pecans for Proprietor's? It's a classic dessert combo that should work well."

"Okay, but let's add a bunch of peppers just because we ******* can!"
They could've made a maple pecan bacon stout for Christ's sake. None of this pepper ********.

Despite living in NC, home of the 6mo barrel treatment, I just don't care.

The market is so filled with beers that are now at least 85-90% as good as BCBS and its variants, I'm ok with a B/A BA stout...

Same with the IPA market. Yeah, Trillium, HF, etc. might be the best, but I'm ok with HDnR and WW's IPA's.

fyi a case of bbpt5 is $130.

Is this going to be like when you get to the Eclipse rainbow on the shelf? Will they be providing swatches? Spending 10 damn minutes trying to figure out if the bottle I'm holding is eggshell, cream, light gray, or pearl. They should make the Rare tags green and then have an unaged corn whiskey variant in seafoam or some ****.
