If everyone ******* enough I can see them going back to the old format once again. There were most likely numerous meetings among suits discussing (and laughing) about how enraged certain fanatics would become about the new bottle format...
Personally, I think it's a money grab and nothing more. But let's be honest, they know they have a hot commodity on their hands and are acting accordingly. Unless there is some significant recoil, I can see them sticking to the change...but never underestimate strength in numbers. If anyone is that unhappy about the change, let it be known via social media and stuff.
As much as it may make me sound like a wussy, I honestly don't need an extra 5 oz of standard BCBS in my bottle as a nightcap, which I like to do solo from time to time (as do many others I know). So that is a distinct new format disadvantage that "they" already saw a way around. Of course they will espouse the virtue of drinking responsibly while realizing that the price per oz is going up and suggest that bottles of BCBS were never intended to be solo'd regardless. So they will get more cash and simultaneously have people splitting 16.9 oz bottles of the rare stuff instead of 22 oz while receiving more $ per ounce. Pretty sneaky...
I am honestly really curious about what this means for how much BCBS we're used to seeing delivered at our usual retailers. Will the distribution be spread a lot more equally now, especially to areas that have past been starved for variants and even regular? Will areas that never even received BCBS get some now? Will it be 17 16.9 oz bottles to a case to equal that of 12 24 oz bottles?
Friends tell me that the format change means more beer for everyone, but I can't help but see it as more $ in AB InBev's pockets and nefarious intentions.
I would honestly love someone to prove my concerns wrong, but as usual it's all about the $.
Eagerly awaiting 2025's 4 oz Bourbon County "nippers" bottle format for $39.95. They're looking to gradually cook us up to the $ per oz ratio that they want. Thumbs up...
