    A/C unit, or mini fridge for temp

    My problem is the interior size, my fermentasaurus is between 27.1”, to 30” not many affordable C\F of that depth, and 25 years of being a carhauler has destroyed my shoulders, so lifting a full conical is out of the question. Can I cool a dual chamber with a mini fridge?

    hi, I have recently moved from SoCal to southern NH. I’m going to build 2 fermentasaurus ferm chamber from scratch in my basement. Which is more economical to use, a widow AC unit , or a mini fridge? Will have 1-2” insulation, and an ink bird controller. Thanks

    stuck mash....AGAIN!

    yeah, Im doing a high hop ipa w/ 13.25 grain bill 11# 2row , and the rest split between carapils,vienna , and a touch of chocolate for color. I changed out the perf/ strainer for my tried and true $12.00 s/s screen and she worked just fine, just have to hide it from the grandson. Thanks guys...

    stuck mash....AGAIN!

    Hi, been a while since I was able to brew, I received a perforated screen for my mash tun( 10 gal. round Igloo), and tried using it on my brew on Sat. Could not get even a trickle out of my valve when it came time to recirculate, nothing I tried helped, stirring, shaking( more frustration...

    flourescent light bad?

    I've tried the lizard lamp, but It got the temp too high, 60w florescent keeps it at 68-70 degrees. My ferm/chamber is just large enough to hold 3 carboys ,and the small light uses very little power. thanks for the replies

    HI. As the winter here in socal has been like the north pole this winter( yeah I know were just a bunch of nancys here), I have been trying to keep the temp in my fermenter at 68-70 degrees w/ a mini flourescent bulb, does agreat job. M y question is will the light from this source damage...

    big difference in o.g reading

    ok, we did our 1st all grain( MB fire in the hole) ,grav. reading for the sweet wort was 1.040, o.g of the wort after boil and additions was 1.070, 7 days later( I drive a truck so getting home in time is a crap shoot), took a reading today and it was 1.022. Should the difference for that time...

    Phil's Phalse Bottom - is it worth the $$$

    I use a length of braided s/s hose covering from Earl's( found at good part stores) and no problems at all, I think you could stand on it and it would still flow. a bit on the pricey side ,but like he said you get what you pay for.

    fermentation temps

    I am brewing a cali common using WLP810, recipe calls for 65-68 deg after fermentation begins . I live in san diego( GO CHARGERS!) daytime temps have been in the 90's nite temps in the low 60's ,and my f/c is ice cooled( cheaper than SDG&E rates on my a/c), and at nite it gets down to 60-63...

    thanks for the info guys, next time I will try the 100/1000 starter & not worry so much. by the way pitched my starter into my steam clone and fermentation kicked off in appx 6 hrs. thanks again.

    okay, last night made a starter per thread from this site"2 cups water, 1 cup DME" boil 10 -15 min cool to 70-75 deg. and pitch yeast wlp810. should I be seeing any action in appx. 12-18 hrs @ 65-75 deg.? oh yeah I am using a stir plate. thanx

    a/c down to 52degrees?

    hi all, I have just finished my fermentation chamber sized to hold 2 6.5 gal carboys, and a5 gal secondary, 4" of rigid foam and a 5500 BTU window a/c unit. By using a temp controller how do I get the a/c to bring the temp down to 50deg. if the control on the a/c unit only goes to 62 deg...

    just tried my first beer

    congrats, just finished my 2nd (l/ coast hefe ), my son and I are newbies, like they say , "VERY ADDICTING" ,. I have one bottle left from my 1st batch, and I have to put it in my gun safe ( guns& beer yehaaaa!), because my son already drank the rest, maybe a bigger safe? Enjoy.

    hello, just need to ask a real newbie question' how do you make a starter, are they needed every time, pros, cons, etc.,etc., etc.,...... just trying to load up on all the info I can get to brew the best beer I can. thank you for your patience.
