Last weekend I got the boat out on the water. Where I launch only has two docks with a total of three positions to launch/recover. The western most launch spot typically has a LOT of sand wash up. Right after I recovered my boat, a guy was trying to haul his 30 footer out of the western most end and got his trailer buried half way to the axle in the sand. Combine that with a wet and sandy boat launch and all four of the guys tires on his diesel truck were slipping and he was going nowhere. I ended up unhooking my trailer and backed up to him to hook up a tow strap and help haul him out. I really didn't think anything of it, just seeing someone with a need and taking ten minutes out of my day to help him out. As I was reconnecting my trailer, he came up to me asking how much he owed me. I guess I was a little dumbfounded because it was the LAST thing I expected.

Boaters tend to be that way IME. Whenever we're out on the water (and by the way we were up in Grand Haven last weekend and took a trip up to Whitehall, though we often cruise down to Holland or Saugatuck) most boaters seem more than willing to help other boaters.

I'm pretty sure this thread was NOT intended to have people share what nice thing they've done. It's a tribute to other nice people and what they do for you or others you stupid muricans

Get out of my thread.

yesterday evening I got a call from my wife that the power was out in half of our town we determined we needed to go eat dinner somewhere. When we went to dinner the family that was sitting next to us told us that we had a beautiful family and paid for our dinner. Total blessing for a family of six...

I had a nice deed done to me on Saturday!!

I was sat on the curb of the parking lot at the mall with my head in my hands when this nice young couple, concerned for my health came up and asked if I was OK. I said "Uh?, oh! Yes, I'm fine thanks. My wife is shopping. I always look like this when she's shopping"
Anyway, I thanked them for their concern, and was genuinely heartened that a couple of strangers would take the time. However, my question is this. My missus knows how much I hate shopping, strangers can see that shopping trips make me look like a physical wreck.....Why can't SHE see that!?

As a father of 4, I need to know how to pull this off! I get lots if compliments on my girls' behavior but no free food.

I work at a Texas.grocery chain in the meat market. Yesterday I had a customer and his wife come up and say they were from out of state and asking a few things about the store and some of the more specialty items that we had that they were unfamiliar with.

The gentleman was very friendly, used my name, asked how I was and how things have been for me lately, and seemed genuinely interested. We ended up chatting for a few minutes about different things and I made sure he got everything he needed.

People that act that way really can brighten your day.and put you in a positive mood. Something so simple can go so far.

And as a bonus, people that act friendly and respectful, in most situations, will have the employee jumping through hoops to take care of them, rude people will get much less.

Went to lunch with the family today and left a note with the check that stated "you have a nice turd cutter". The waitress was hot and got an extra $10 from me. She had a nice a$$

That reminds me, I need to add "misogynists with cash to throw around" to the people I should be able to kill thread.

Classy.

This Saturday is my birthday, and I have been in a tight financial spot lately. Knowing this, my fiancé and mom got together to pay for some much need equipment and library additions to my brewing hobby. Life can be difficult, but if you take it too seriously, you'll never get out of it alive. Thanks Van Wilder

My uncle. He called me up at work, on my cell, and texted me to alert me that my water was being shut off today. My dumb a** forgot to get the service transferred to my name. Managed to reach them early enough that it should be turned back on by the time I get home from work.

My four-year-old son usually covers his face and runs away when I try to hug or kiss him. He probably thinks its a game but his lack of affection gets to me sometimes. I pretty much lost it the other night when he called me into his room after bed time just to say "I love you, Dad."

You should have covered your face and ran away!!! That would teach the little bastard!! :D

Today, a cashier honored a coupon that won't be valid for a week. I saved four dollars. Clearly, this person is doing the lord's work.

That's pretty funny. Had a similar conversation with a friend the other day. I am actually waiting for the right time to try that!

You know what's even better than getting things you'd hoped for without asking?

Having people in your life who love you enough to make it happen. You are truly blessed.

As for me, I've got things pretty good and I hope I never lose sight of that simple fact.

I was treating a patient (a dog, FYI) at work who, for reasons unknown, went into sudden liver failure and lost the ability to clot. I treated her on ER, transfused her with plasma, and, 2 days later, she was looking fantastic. But when I checked her clotting times, she'd backslid and wasn't clotting again.

I managed to talk the owners into sending her to a specialist the morning before I went off shift for a few days, but I wasn't holding out much hope. I found out yesterday she was released and expected to do well long-term. :rockin:

I ordered 2 combo meals at In & Out drive thru. When I got to the front I realized I didn't have my wallet. I was all apologetic and kinda embarrassed that I was wasting his time & food.

He gave me both meals complimentary. Said, "No problem, just pay us the next time you're here!"

I am an In & Out fan for life!

I'm active on another brewing forum, BeerBorg. They had a Secret Santa exchange. My Santa sent me some fine craft beer with his own homebrew. Including Ellicottville, Great Lakes Brewing and Ommegang. True generosity. Merry Christmas!

I had a brewclub share your beer night, met some new members of the club, drank tons of excellent beer, and, unsurprisingly, had a wonderful evening of beer and beer talk!

My car wouldn't start yesterday so I called my boss. He lives near me and hadn't left yet so he gave me a ride to work. I insisted he stop at Starbucks so I could repay him with a cup of coffee. While we were there another coworker came in so I told her I would buy too. It was payday and I was trying to put some good karma back into the universe so to speak. Of course she ordered a $5 latte but oh well, it all comes back around eventually.

I've got one for you...

Thank you HBT. (how about that?)

I brewed for about 10 years without HBT. I was an extract brewer and did things the way I thought they should be done without much information from any source. I developed some really good habits, and some very poor habits.

I found HBT early this year. I've made several process changes and as a result, am brewing better beer. I bought a kegerator and recently started kegging again. All of the questions or problems that I had with kegging were answered here on HBT.

I started brewing all grain earlier in the year after finding Norther Brewers "Brewing TV". Watching those videos, reading several books, and the info I found here made it a very simple transition. It was like I'd been brewing that way all along.

So... thank you HBT.
