I am brewing my second batch. It is a AHS kolsch. I racked to secondary yesterday. When I looked at it tonight there were lots of white spots on the surface of the brew. Should I be worried?i was very sanitary with everything.

    2nd batch

I am brewing AHS kolsch extract kit. I added 1% alcohol boost. OG was 1.058. It has been in primary for five days. Really took off after about 12 hours. I took a gravity reading today and it was 1.018(kit says final should be 1.014). It's not bubbling much any more, maybe one bubble every 20...

    Kolsch

My next extract kit is a kolsch from austin home brew. It's my second ever batch. I was thinking about putting something in the secondary for a nice spring flavor. Anyone one have any ideas? Or should I just leave it the way it is. I have never had a flavored kolsch so I'm not sure which way I...

Does anyone know how long to leave a keg carbonating using the tasty brew calculator. I have an iPa and the calculator recommends 4.9 psi but does not say how long to leave it. Any ideas?

    Over carbonation?

I have another question about my first brewing/kegging experience. I think I over carved. hBS owner said I could take gas off, shake beer and then vent keg. He said continue to do this until I no longer have any co2 coming out when I vent. So I started this process, shook keg, vented, shook keg...

    Carbonation help!

So here's my scenario. I took the advice of my LHBS owner and burst carved (30psi for ten minutes while rocking back and forth) on Monday night. I bled the keg and then let is sit at 8 psi overnight. Beer was pouring really foamy and was cloudy. I let it sit for another 24 hours and had same...

    First keg

I force carved my first keg tonight. First poor was all foam. (I never burped the keg and turned my pressure down to 10psi) I then bleed the keg and the beer was much less foamy but now it is poring really really slow. Any ideas. Thanks in advance

    Carbonating

I'm getting ready to keg my first batch. I have a three keg system as u can see from the pic. My question is, can I carbonate my keg using one of my three lines off the manifold or should I take the main line out for carbing and then reconnect and hook keg up to one of the three lines?

    Kegging/force carbing

I am getting ready to keg my first batch and I have a couple of questions. Should I rack from my secondary into my bottling bucket and then to the keg or just to the keg straight from the secondary? Second question is in regards to force carbing. I have heard I should put 30/40 psi on it and let...

    +++ abv

Just racked my first batch into the secondary. Hydrometer reading tells me it's finished with an abv of 5.75. It's a BB iPa. I am happy with that. Is there a way in future brews to elevate the abv in an extract kit that says around 6. Basically what I'm looking for is to spend aroun $45-$50 and...

    Second batch

My first batch(brewers best iPa) has been in the primary for 9 days. I was going to rack to a secondary but based on all of the feedback on this site, I'm going to leave it in the primary until I keg. That being said, I have an extra car boy so I'm looking for suggestions on a good extract...

    Gravity reading?

My first batch has been in the primary for 6 days and the airlock has slowed to a bubble every 30'seconds or so. I was thinking of taking a gravity reading. Should I do so? And is so if I draw some beer out with a turkey Baster and take a reading, should I poor the beer back in fermenter? Drink...
