I used Wyeast 1214 to ferment a Belgian and the beer came out very ester-y. I fermented ~64F (the recommendation is 68-78F) because I read this could be an issue. Thoughts on why I got so many esters anyways? I pitched directly from the pack (maybe that was my mistake?).
I was looking at the recipe for a Northern Brewer 1 gal kit, and pricing it out, it looks like it would cost me more than $14.99 to gather all the ingredients. Do you agree?

I currently have a 5 gallon kettle and have been doing extract + specialty partial boils. I would like to try out BIAB, but I'm not ready to spend the money on a 10 gallon kettle yet. What is a good size batch to look for? And what's a good way to get the right amount of ingredients for a <5...
