wine in mason jars?

What do Yall think about keeping wine in canning jars? I've always bottled my wine but was just curious about storing it in jars after my last rack for friends and family, lil cheaper and easier to open I would think. Some say it causes rust on the metal lids?

I think the worse rust is in the wine. The amount of surface area exposed to air is so much greater in a mason jar than in a wine bottle if the bottle is filled up in the neck. In short using mason jars is asking for oxidation...
