Will White Labs WL060 work well in a Robust Porter?
My LHBS was out of Wyeast American Ale 1056 and when I was offered the WL060 American Ale yeast I thought, "Why not"?
After some research, it seems the WL001 California yeast is the equivalent of the 1056. The WL060 American Ale yeast is described as being neutral and having the California ale yeast blended into it, but also is said to produce sulfur and a lager yeast characteristics. It is the last part that I am afraid of. It sounds kind of like a California Common yeast or something.
I was going to start my starter tomorrow but now I am unsure if I should just go for it or pay the shipping for the correct yeast. What do you guys think?
Thanks
