Which Gasket(s) to Use For Regulator

Ive read that both of the gaskets attached (regular gasket and silicon regulator stem o ring) can be used for the shown regulator. The original one I removed looked like it was placed similar to how I have the silicone sitting in the image. Should I be using just that as the setup or a different variation of the two?

I had a couple Chinese regs and the sealing surface had an inner “step” that would only fit a extra thick washer with an oversized hole. None of the local gas suppliers had seen that. I just got new proper CGA nipples

I'm not sure what that means, can you post a picture if you're referring to something that I could look into to make adjustments on mine if the single red washer doesn't work?

here is one. It works just fine with the gasket it comes with. The problem is once it wears out no gas supplier around here carries this plastic washer nor has ever seen one.

It’s just easier to convert the nipple to the standard type

Here are two new regs with a more conventional nipple, that being flush or flat faced
