Hi, looking for some advice over which brew to do next. Brewed a couple of quite successful lagers so far, and learnt the importance of aging/conditioning and its effect. Now with warmer weather approaching, and difficulty achieving lager temps, I'm looking to brew up an ale. Still on kits at the moment, so after some suggestions of the better ones please - and any additional (eg hops) extras recommended.

The ales I have a taste for are:

Tribute
Betty Stoggs
Black Sheep
Hoppy Hen

These may not mean a lot to those non-UK. I'm mainly a lager man so in no way an expert in ale, but tend to go for the lighter stuff.

Thanks

I'd take a look at the coopers website! Particularly this section that focuses on recipes:
http://www.coopers.com.au/#/diy-beer/beer-recipes/ale/

It's all extract stuff with a few added additions like hops and special grains. I've been slowly working my way through them since I started and working on more and more complicated processes.

Each has a really good description, ingredients list and step by step process so I definitely recommend having a look around!

You could try putting together some recipes with lager malts & hops. The ferment them with WL029 kolsch yeast. It has an ideal temp range of 65-69F, which is right in the ale fermentation range. It gives a lager-like balance & some crispness on the back.
