I haven’t been around lately- but I had time this morning to check in with HBT and wanted to see if you could figure out where I am based on a picture or two from yesterday.

Winner gets a “thumbs up” from me, and a virtual beer. No fair if you’re one of my Facebook buddies and I already told you!

I love Italy :)

The name of the winery is in the third photo; I had to look it up...
It's in Montepulciano in Siena, Italy.

Hope you're enjoying yourself! (And not riding in the ambulance)

You’re right, of course! I actually was at lunch in Montalcino and trying some Brunello wines, but we are indeed staying in Montepulciano currently. We visited Pienza. earlier today, and I’m off for another wine tasting across the Piazza with a friend. The beer has been mediocre to good, but the wine has been great!

I was trying to read something off the ambulance but got seriously distracted by the prosciutto-ish looking awesomeness in the following pic. Have fun--I'm sure you aren't missing the mid-May snows over here.

Good morning! It’s 6:30 AM here, and here is the view out of our kitchen window.

We had a great dinner last night, complete with a wonderful tiramisu:

Before that, we visited the Cantucci wine cellars right across the piazza from our apartment:

And earlier in the day, took a drive and bought some salumi and aged pecorino:

This morning we are returning our rental car to Perugia and then heading for Rome tomorrow, nearly ready to end our Tuscan adventure. My friend and I have having a great time!

My favorite place so far has been an old abbey, I think.
Abbazia di Monte Oliveto Maggiore. It is a beautiful place, with wine and olive oil, along with some grappa and other products. You can tour much of the church and see the 14th and 15th century frescoes. While there are fewer monks there these days (only 31 from a high of 200 in the past), it’s still an active Benedictine monestary.

You *MUST* be having a good time....you didn't start an HBT thread about worrying whether you should have bottled something before you left, or would it be ok left in the fermenter. :p
