Good lord, Bill. I only saw this post and I wondered how the heck you managed to father two kids so recently..............

Apparently reading IS fundamental.

Good to see ya!

Growing up I always translated that into READING IS FUN...AND...MENTAL.
I've already finished 2 books this week. OK, they were westerns, but they were books and I did read them. One of them only took a few hours. Now I'm over halfway through a 3rd one.

LOL! ME? KIDS? Just an FYI: I have 3 daughters, 6 grands (the only 2 boys died years ago) and 7 great grands...

Good to hear from you again too. It's been awhile.

Stainless steel double tap tower came. Now I need a couple extra hoses and ball lock disconnects and I can kick the tires and light the fires! Well...that and brew some beer [emoji5]

Made a +$40 Amazon order this morning to get stuff delivered tonight; 5 more packets of Nottingham yeast (can't beat their price, and dated 6/2021), 4 new spring clamps to replace the rusty ones, and a new refractometer; this one is number 3 in 4 years of brewing. First one got dropped (oops) and second was a super-cheap piece of cr*p that wasn't sealed and got messed up the 2nd time I used it. This time went with a more expensive one that should last longer. I will note here however, that I am still on hydrometer #1; and it lives in my utensil drawer not in a case or tube. That thing just won't die.

I've had 2 refractometers. Both crap. Accuracy is way off.I'm a retired nurse and used those every day for 20 years. Next one I get will be medical grade.

That should say HopSaver. Should keep me going a while even if I waste some on food.View attachment 663954
I have one of those, and it works great for hops!

TIP: Store large amounts in an extra long bag. Cut off the top and take out what you need, and you still have enough bag material to reseal it.

That's what I do too! I admit, it took a long while for the light bulb moment to occur... but I go through this stuff a lot slower now.

2 lbs of lovely whole cone. I really tried again to give pellets a fair chance for a few batches. Nope. Can't wait to get to the next brew!

EDIT actually more than 2 3/4 lbs! I have NEVER had a bag from Hops Direct that wasn't overweight. A year's supply for me, a loyal customer for them. :)
