My homebrew club made a day trip to the Potosi brewery and museum in (of course), Potosi, WI last weekend. This was a treat!
The old Potosi Brewery went out of business in 1972 and was rebuilt (a $7.5 million restoration) & reopened under new ownership (locals) in 2008.
This was a major "put it back together" effort.
If you are near there, beer is great, food is good, and the museum tour is amazing. Brewery tour on Saturdays.

Finally had a chance to visit tonight, spectacular. I Didnt take a picture, was enjoying the beer too much so I stole this one.

Before I forget. Visited this small brewery in Exeter NH (on the way to Tributary Brewery Mott the Lessor Release). Exeter has a lot of academia around between priv and state school uni.

Went there for their meat pies. I'd say their beer and pies were good. However, there was a couple next to me from London that were raving how good the pies were with some honest critiques. One was the need for kidney pie. Another was a thicker ring crust. Bartender said they waited six months for a special English pie making press. So I'm out of my realm for critique

I went with the pub ale and steak. Next time I'm a big chic pot pie fan. It was Cinco de Mayo and they change menu every week.

All in all they're really into making it a unique experience. I'd highly recommend that area as a good beer trip loop. Nice New England college town area and restaurants. Add the Portsmouth and Kittery and you've got more than a days worth to do.

I can't really recommend this one, although the views are good. It's not bad just not very good either. The other local watering hole/brewery in town went bankrupt. Which is a shame.

Punched the final ticket for Notch Brewery. I've visited Boston and Worcester locations. I recommend Notch as an alternative brewery to visit the hazy giants around here. Especially during special events.

Salem might take as my favorite. It's got a nice vibe. If you don't like driving/parking in Boston? The North Shore is 10x worse Altho luckily they have a nice big parking lot. So head straight to the brewery if you want nice parking and is your destination. I went to a restaurant so circled thru one way crooked small alleys to get a spot.

It's on the coast and has the whole Salem history going on. Lots of history besides the witch trials. Tons of good restaurants close by too.

The were holding their XV anniversary. Usually during their events, like Octoberfest or DarkBier, they have many new unique beers on tap. Unfortunately, they only had an anniversary pitch lined Czech lager. Maybe it was me but I've had their pitch lined before and they were always phenomenal. This one was just ok. However, plenty of other good tasties on tap.

I would put Salem on top. Boston i also like the vibe. It's an interesting speedway garden setting. It may be me but getting Notch on draft is so much better than the can. I've never been disappointed at
an event in Boston. Crowded? Yes but fun. It's a little bit isolated but Trillium is just down the road. Worcester? It's a nice biergarten pop up.


Anyways, Salem is on the coast and there's always nice views of the ocean. I'd recommend it

Alvarium, New Britain CT. The freshly roasted coffee was so enjoyable I bought a package to bring home.

Walked to the tasting room entrance for a couple beers.

The brews were done right… purchased a coffee stout to go as well.

Stopped in at 5 Churches Brewing, for one before moving on to dinner in Polish town section of New Britain. Large space with a few menu options. I had the Pilsner hubby had a Marzen, okay as in no off flavors but not at all impressive. It seems pretty popular no matter what I think. Good atmosphere.

Two Roads Stratford CT just 15 minutes from the ferry we take back home to avoid a mood crushing traffic jam around NYC. Had a small pizza to share. I didn’t need to see Area 2, this time around, and the pub with all the grub already appeared to be busy at a quarter after noon. All the beers we had were solid, and I brought a few things from the merch room.

We visited Wellspent Brewing in St. Louis yesterday. They're closing on June 29. It's a bit sad, I've always enjoyed their beers and they usually have a wider variety of styles that you don't see in a lot of places. But they're not in the best location, and it was rarely busy when we stopped by. They don't have a kitchen so there are better options for meeting up with friends. It ended up being somewhere we'd stop after going someplace else.

The production site for St. James Brewery. They have a beautiful tasting room in St James NY and have bottles and cans to go at the brewery in Holbrook. The tour and talk was open to the 3 area HBCs. There usual styles are Belgian and English ales and they’ve been gradually adding other styles such as this Alt I enjoyed.

Nice collection of wins.

Most customers were in the beer garden.

Server accidentally poured one I hadn’t ordered, and said I might as well have it. Never complain about free beer!

Pilsner.

They have a small menu of breakfast type foods including liege waffles.

Hotel coffee wasn’t good so I got this to go for the next morning.

Visting Lost Coast Brewery in Mexico Beach, Florida. I'm sampling their HWY 98 Lager, a nice clean straw colored lager.

Next I tried the Kolsch, one of the better craft brewery examples of the style. They used an interesting hop that I was unable to identify. Possibly Centenial dominating the flavor profile. None the less it is a good drinkable beer.

Then on to two IPAs. One Williamette IPA, another good drinkable brew that is an easy drinking IPA with noticable hop flavor but lacks hop aroma.

Last but not least I tried their Centenial IPA. A better example of the style with mild aroma but a nice hoppy flavor.

They had several others but IMO the HWY 98 was the best one sampled today. Their brewery is an automated system that produces good drinkable beers but they lack hand crafted personal artistry expected from a craft brewery.

Been a long minute since the Spousal Unit and I visited the Harpoon brewery but it was going to be a lovely day around Boston hahbah so we ventured into the city and found our way to their lot. Like most brewery tap rooms they have a bunch of beers that don't see the light of day anywhere else, and we had a tender who was willing to let us try sips of anything we fancied a taste.

We both liked their Day Drifter the best and had full pours of that even though that brew can be had at retail if one is lucky to come across them. Settled in with a pretzel and watched the hahbah traffic and folks playing on Harpoons pickle ball courts and the Red Sox game on TV (they won).

Nice day to be in Beantown...
