HB Irish Stout
I had to drive to a specialist in Denver today for a comprehensive hearing and tinnitus test. Determined that I have moderate to severe hearing loss and severe tinnitus. I basically knew that going in, but it kind of sets in harder when a doctor tells you. The tinnitus might be managed with special programming in new hearing aids, but the hearing loss can’t be helped much apparently. I now have a special pair of demo hearing aids to see if I feel any improvement in the next week. Holy $h1t are they expensive!!!

A delicious old-school Dry Martini

Not to toot my own horn, but I'm pretty confident that I make the best Martini in DelCo. The Hella orange bitters makes all the difference. Fresh lemon twist is a must. Express the lemon oil and toss in the trash, not in the drink. Ice cubes must be made from filtered water. Ford's Gin is absolutely delicious! You can drink it straight like whiskey.

More importantly. What is the temp :)

Nothing worse than going to the ice machine to find out the plug fell out.

Some kind of vodka sour. Bitters from Portland ME. May try making my own bitters with sous vide. Herbs in the mail

When making cocktails, confidence is imperative.

A thermometer on a BK is probably not necessary, but it was part of the kit when I bought that kettle years ago. It’s nice to be able to look at it from a distance and know when it’s time to start keeping a close eye on it.

Need something a little stronger tonight. We lost our lady lion, Toasty, this afternoon. She’d tried so damn hard the last three weeks to get herself healthy, but she was up against too much. Her little heart stopped while the vet was telling us about her cancer and liver bleeding internally. I’ve been through this stuff before, but I’m beyond crushed. It’s my wife’s first death of a pet, and that makes it doubly crushing.
We will miss you deeply, Toasty.

I've been aging this for a year or so since I bought it. Had some friends in the home brew club tell me it needs more time that apparently opened theirs too early. Pretty awesome stout. Tons of stuff going on. Mixed culture 2yr Jamaican rum Barrel aged Belgian stout 14.6% abv.
