After the third day of school closure due to the flood and confirmation that they would be out till next Monday SWMBO said she wanted to drink tonight. Here's the start

My homebrew. It was a failed attempt at a Barley wine (first big beer on my herms set up.) When I came in low on my gravity, I just threw in a bunch of home grown Columbus hops(somewhat strategically aiming to hit a respectful IBU). It's not the worst beer I've ever brewed but I'd never try to brew it again. I don't like Columbus for aroma additions. Took a year to lose the onion smell...

Isn't that the opposite of what you want to do? With lower gravity, take away hops to match og/ibu level.

When I missed my numbers I said "screw it," and decided to just use home grown hops and go a different route completely.

It was literally the worst brew day of my life and I wasn't going to waste the hops I bought specifically for my American Barley Wine on what I considered to already be a failed beer.

Your thought process is correct though. If I wanted to maintain the ratio, I would have had to drop the amount of hops to also reduce the IBUs.

Yeah, I'm at a place where I can't justify 5 hours brewing and walking away empty handed. I went from using a braided hose as my manifold to cpvc. Stuck sparge every 2 minutes. Now I use rice hulls in every batch...

First time I've ever had one of these and now I realize what all the fuss is about – – – it was awesome!

Yep! You don't get to be the worlds oldest longest running brewery making crap beer! Enjoyed the hell out of those when I was stationed in Germany so many moons ago...I THINK I can get that locally, will have to check..Love it! :)

After a semi crappy day, I need some Liquid Bliss! And this delivers! :)
I just know tomorrow is going to be a ball buster, so glad I still have one more bottle in the fridge!..LOL

Just like my last brew day. Started after work at 8pm on a Saturday, it ended with spilled wort all over the kitchen, puddles of Star San and a Black IPA that turned into a poocho trainwreck brown.

Had to leave and buy ice, more extract and a new auto siphon (old one broke). After three trips out of the apartment ended at 230am, while breaking my only hydrometer before a OG reading.

Now have a IPA/ESB lovechild. Not shabby and hella drinkable.. I tell nobody what a trainwreck it was.

Only place I've seen it here: single bottles at the package store on Luh-Jern.
