When I came in low on my gravity, I just threw in a bunch of home grown Columbus hops(somewhat strategically aiming to hit a respectful IBU).
NB Off the Topper, turned out really good and cleared nicely in the bottle. Sorry, no picture... maybe if I open another one...
Isn't that the opposite of what you want to do? With lower gravity, take away hops to match og/ibu level.
When I missed my numbers I said "screw it," and decided to just use home grown hops and go a different route completely.
It was literally the worst brew day of my life and I wasn't going to waste the hops I bought specifically for my American Barley Wine on what I considered to already be a failed beer.
Your thought process is correct though. If I wanted to maintain the ratio, I would have had to drop the amount of hops to also reduce the IBUs.
Not laugh..HA HA...but we've all had those "worst brew day of our life". You stuck it out tho, i just toss mine. Love the attitude!!
First time I've ever had one of these and now I realize what all the fuss is about it was awesome!

Congratulations! Do you have experience with the real thing?
After the third day of school closure due to the flood and confirmation that they would be out till next Monday SWMBO said she wanted to drink tonight. Here's the start
Yep! You don't get to be the worlds oldest longest running brewery making crap beer! Enjoyed the hell out of those when I was stationed in Germany so many moons ago...I THINK I can get that locally, will have to check..Love it!![]()
Great beer.
And here I am having a water...
Is there a Spokane Michigan?
