9:30 local time. Lucky to have secured a table.

HB Brut IPA with Luminosa, Strata and Tango. In a wine glass for some reason.

It's pretty good. Decent balance and super crisp. The Strata is a bit more resin-y than I'd like for this style, part of me thinks I should have gone all Luminosa. It's also presenting a touch too bitter but that could be residual hop bite from the ~10g/L dry hop.

Cheers to the glory days. Our future retirement town is underwater so wifey is rethinking about the Oregon Coast again. You know, because it never rains there...

If you keep thinking and rethinking this you're going to end up moving in next door to me. :D

Drinking an aged dark Barleywine that was bottled 10 August 2021. Maris Otter for base, Special B, and a little Special Carafa III. Apollo hops at 60 and 10 minutes for 83 IBU (Tinseth). US-05 yeast. 9.8% ABV. Tastes of chocolate, licorice, and a very slight astringency. Overall nice. Looking back at my notes, I did screw-up a bit on this one and instead of using a tiny bit of table salt, I used my wife's "fancy French Sea Salt". Sort of forgot at the time that the sea salt has magnesium, which may explain the bit of off taste.

A little bit of Mg shouldn't affect the flavor. Say, under 20-30 ppm. In larger amounts, it might leave a twang. And have laxative effects.

The astringency could be from oxidation.

Now the real test. Is the Treehouse ale in can just as good as draft. It's a lot different. A lot more boozier in aroma and flavor. More scotch roast. Not as smooth sweeter caramel. More true to what I'd expect from a Scotch ale tho. I did pick up two four packs tho. Some to the cellar!

Haven't had this before so I'm doing one of my "outside my comfort zone" things. I've seen the raves and the loves, 99 rating on Beer Advocate so this has to be great, right?
Lots of citrus aroma and taste, not as bitter as I expected but still too much for me. Gave it to my wife, she smelled it and wouldn't even taste it as I've done this to her before. Let my DIL have a sip and she made the da***dest face I've seen in a while.🤣
Overwhelmed my palate, unpleasant coating feeling on mouth and tongue. Wish I had kept some of that sour pickle vodka from last night! Glad I was able to buy just one.
Different strokes for different folks!🍻

Yes, that's a great Hazy beer! ❤️❤️

Not everyone's thing. Enjoy what you love.

Anyone here ever check out the dark depths of r/prisonhooch? I saw someone post about fermenting POG (passion fruit orange guava) juice from Costco. After this thought bubbled up every time I passed the juice aisle, I finally decided to give it a shot. ~3 weeks in primary, Cider House Select dry yeast, nutrient, a week to cold crash. Sweetened with honey in the glass. Not great (reminds me of a flat mimosa) but I have made much WORSE concoctions for sure.

I feel like I’ve been gone from HBT for a while. Oh wait I have been.
Finally home for the weekend. Was in Orlando for a trade show last week and made it home Thursday night. I leave tomorrow for Vegas for a few days for another work trip. 😮‍💨
Enjoyed this yesterday afternoon while hanging out with my oldest daughter.

Busy weekend, but full of goodness, got a sourdough starter, my first attempt should be in the oven tomorrow.. also made a trip to snag some maryland blues from a buddy. Then found this gem sitting in the back if the fridge. Oh and now my power is out, generator keeping things running.

Never heard of this brewery over in Biloxi so decided I'd try their wit with citrus peel and spices. None of either in aroma or taste. Looked at the package date (I've got to get smart enough to do that before I buy) and the year in distorted but it is at least a year old so certainly not representative of what this beer is.☹️

You've hit the trifecta, my friend! Good bread, crabs, cold beer. Glad to hear you have generator power.

Those blue crabs look great, I'm jealous. Reminds me that I need to whip up some crab cakes one of these days, though I have to settle for canned crab.
