Carb check on the German Pils I kegged on Sunday. It's a bit meh. I've been monkeying around with my water for German beers, trying to soften the finish while still keeping the finish sharp and focused. This is a little too soft for my tastes, but there's still a lot of yeast in the way. Maybe it'll sharpen up a bit when it falls fully clear.

Beer. Ask for it by name.

This could have any of a couple dozen labels on it and it wouldn’t raise any eyebrows-maybe not even those of the folks who brewed it. It’s as generic as an American Lager can be.

You've got a real talent for damning with faint praise, sir!

Speaking of damning with faint praise...has anyone checked out the latest Zymurgy? They have an article on brewing malt liquor. Yeah, no shiat.

Evoking flashbacks of my misdirected youth. Mickey's, Colt 45, Country Club.

Seriously, I just might do one. Pilsner, flaked corn, sugar, a little crystal malt. Some neutral hops (very little) and US-05 or the like.

Now if I can round up a bunch of empty foties for bottling. ;)

That's all kinds of awesome! I don't remember if it was BYO or Zymurgy, I think it was Zym, but they did a similar article around twenty-five years ago. I let both subscriptions lapse several years ago, but I'll now be trying to hunt down someplace to buy a hardcopy of this issue.

Thanks for the heads up!

Hanging out with the Regulars uhhh locals

Wet Hopped Sunset over Misty Hills W/Rye (Amber Ale) 7% abv.

Classic American amber ale wet hopped with local Cascade hops from Misty Hills Hop Farm in Acushnet MA and Four Star Farm in Northfield

Thanks to our friend Erin Dessert for hooking us up with these beautiful Cascade hops! Thanks to our Mug Club Members that came to the brewery and helped us pick these beauties off the bind! A shout out to Four Star Farm for 50 lbs. of Fresh wet Cascade hops as well!!

Bright amber color with off white head. Aromas of maple, caramel, and sweet citrus. Flavors of English toffee, Meyer Lemon, and light spice from the rye. This beer is smooth, balanced and medium body.

Isaac Davis Brown (Colonial Brown Ale) 5.8% ABV

Walnut colored ale with light cream colored head. Aromas of honey, brown sugar, and toast, with a light undertone of nuttiness. Toasty and slightly nutty up front with light citrus, burnt caramel, and prune flavors in the finish coming from the molasses used in this beer. A very mild undertone of smoke invokes the notion of traditional brewing techniques. Finishes smooth and clean, not lingering long on the palate. This beer is a collaboration with the Acton 250 committee to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.

Kegging and FG sample of a HB all Cashmere pale ale. I think it will be great with some bubbles and a little keg conditioning. I used @Dgallo ‘s recipe for this. Should clock in at 5.9% ABV.

Then the last can of this… wasn’t my favorite beer. Has a hint of smoke that I don’t like. I suck enough smoke on fire calls, I don’t need it in my beer.

Mead started 10/20/2020. Didn't know jack about sna (just a noob that wanted to make alcohol!) so it started out pretty rough. It's getting better and hopefully will continue to do so. SWMBO who does not like mead says it tastes better than it did.🤔

Any positive remarks from the wife are a cause for celebration. Rejoice and be happy!

If you are an AHA member you get access to back issues online in pdf. I think they go back to the early 2000s, so maybe not far enough back to the one you want. But worth checking out.

Yo @orionol73 there's a package waiting at home. Get your neighbors on it!

Cars been acting really bad lately. Got really bad last night on the way home. Who'd think turbo would have such a problem with so much uncompressed air? The connector shattered into a million pieces

Searching around for parts all day long. Peddled a fix

OT: deserve a treat. Vintage Brett Oktoberfest. Interesting the older loses it head very quickly. I like the younger one better. A little more bretter. Fresh these have lager malty characteristics but the Brett quickly takes over with age. They're sold out of the 2019 but still have 2020 🤔
